49ers work out several WRs and DBs, release WR Willie Snead IV
Katie Stratman-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have released wide receiver Willie Snead IV. The team will likely seek to re-sign him to the practice squad. On Saturday, San Francisco promoted Snead from the practice squad to the active roster. He was active on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, playing 21 snaps on offense and seven on special teams.

The 49ers waived offensive lineman Blake Hance on Saturday to make room on the roster for Snead. According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Jaguars claimed Hance off waivers, so he will not be returning.

San Francisco also worked out several wide receivers and defensive backs, per Yates. There are some familiar names on the list. The players are listed below.

  • WR Adam Humphries
  • WR Austin Mack
  • WR Mohamed Sanu
  • WR Tajae Sharpe
  • DB Benjie Franklin
  • DB Iman Marshall
  • DB Troy Pride
