5 burning questions the Packers can answer at the start of OTAs
Wm. Glasheen/USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin / USA TODAY NETWORK

The most significant part of the offseason program starts on Monday for the Green Bay Packers. The organized team activities (OTAs) begin, and while they are not mandatory, the franchise does as much as possible via incentives to make sure almost everyone is in the team's facilities for the first team practices of the year.

The OTAs have different phases. At first, they are basically position drills and individual activities. Later on, team periods start to happen — but without pads and contact, which only happens in training camp.

Even so, there are still some important questions to answer, and the beginning of OTAs can bring us some clarity about relevant topics.

Will Jordan Love be there?

Love is entering the last year of his contract, and it seems like the parties are not as close to an extension as you'd hope for. OTAs are not mandatory, so players with contract issues usually skip those activities to send the team a message. Will Jordan Love do that?

After years of Aaron Rodgers drama, the Packers would certainly prefer a smooth negotiation with their starting quarterback, and Love showing up to OTAs would be a significant step in that direction.

Where will Jordan Morgan align?

The Packers' coaching staff has said that Jordan Morgan will have his first shot in the NFL at left tackle. Despite his short arms and projections that he could move to guard, part of the Packers' decision to take him in the first round was a belief that he could play at tackle.

During rookie minicamp, Morgan was in fact the left tackle, but there was no significant competition. Now, presumably every Packers offensive lineman will be there, so we can get a real glimpse of how the line will really shake out throughout the year.

Are Christian Watson and Eric Stokes healthy?

This is a big question mark, because both Watson and Stokes suffered with hamstring issues throughout last year. Green Bay expects them to have a bigger role this year, and in order for that to happen, they went to see specialists during the offseason to understand the root of their problems.

Hopefully, they can stay healthy — and with a new strength and conditioning staff in Green Bay, have a more consistent year.

Who's the best kicker?

The Packers decided to enter OTAs with a rare three-player competition at kicker. It's yet to be known if they will keep all of Anders Carlson, Greg Joseph, and Jack Podlesny into training camp.

Kicker is a unique position, and OTAs can be really impactful for the competition. The player can show what they are capable of, and maybe general manager Brian Gutekunst decides to cut one of them before the pads come on.

Who starts as the RB2?

Josh Jacobs was signed to be the starting running back, but the secondary runner is an open job. The Packers re-signed AJ Dillon, who led the position in snaps last year because of Aaron Jones' injuries, but they also drafted MarShawn Lloyd in the third round.

The offseason activities will be interesting to see who gets the first carries behind Jacobs, and who will enter training camp ahead.
