The Detroit Lions used their first-round pick on DE Ziggy Ansah. They’re back on the clock at No. 36 overall on Friday (barring a trade). What might they do there? Here’s a look at five options: • Tank Carradine, DE, Florida State: Sure, the Lions already took a DE in Round 1, but if Carradine is healthy (he tore his ACL in Novemeber) he might be even more productive than Ziggy Ansah in 2013. Plus, the Lions likely still need at least one more defensive end, with Lawrence Jackson signing in Minnesota on Thursday night. • Arthur Brown, LB, Kansas State: There are a few draft experts out there who would tell you that Brown is the best player available right now, period. The undersized K-State linebacker could bolster Detroit’s options at outside linebacker, and he has extensive experience playing in the middle of a 4-3. • Keenan Allen, WR, Cal: I know, another high pick on a receiver. Sadly, though, the Lions are in the position of needing to consider this with Titus Young flaming out and Ryan Broyles and Nate Burleson coming back from injuries. Allen, Justin Hunter and Robert Woods all might be in the mix up top of Round 2. • Larry Warford, G, Kentucky: Since Detroit missed out of the offensive tackles early and passed on Chance Warmack/Jonathan Cooper, Warford might be the next best thing. He’s a big and strong interior lineman — something Detroit desperately needs. Slotting him in at right guard would allow Detroit to keep Riley Reiff at a tackle spot, thus making the whole line better. • Jamar Taylor, CB, Boise State: A bunch of talented cornerbacks made it out of Round 1, with Taylor right at the top of the list. The Lions do not value cornerbacks as much as experts seem to think they should, but it’s obvious that they need some help for Chris Houston. Taylor could grab the No. 2 cornerback spot, allowing Bill Bentley and Jonte Greene to duke it out for the slot position.
