Found November 02, 2012 on The Colts Authority:
Before the season began Greg Cowan and I had a long, lopsided debate about the potential this new era Colts team had for 2012. Statistics and prior history suggested somewhere between 3 and 6 wins. Anything more would be considered an abberation but my voice was somewhat quiet in comparison to Greg's booming insistance that the Colts could be a playoff team. While partly tongue-in-cheek, Greg truly believed that the team had 6-8 wins minimum lined up with the potential to steal a few more and maybe back into the playoffs.  He's winning the debate obviously and I can't exactly complain as this has been more fun for me than anticipated.  That cautious optimism brings us to a pivotal game for the Colts in 2012. The Dolphins, like the Colts, are 4-3 and in the hunt for a wild card spot in the playoffs. This weekend's game could have mammoth implications for the entire AFC. Knowing that, here's seven questions I have about this weekend's surprisingly important ...

Sports Network: Colts try their Luck against Dolphins

The Sports Network's story is as much about the similarities of two unlikely playoff contenders as it is a game preview.  Those similarities lie more in the their situations than in their playing style.  Both teams were expected by many to be AFC bottom feeders, competing for the number one over all pick in April's draft.  Yet here they are, each with their rookie quarterback...

Dolphins like Tannehill more than Colts' Luck

DAVIE, Fla. -- The "Suck for Luck" campaign was in full force a year ago. The Miami Dolphins were 0-7 and in position to land Andrew Luck with the top pick in the NFL draft. It didn't happen. The Dolphins suddenly turned matters around and finished 6-10. Indianapolis ended up with the highly touted quarterback. But the Dolphins have come out OK. They managed to get...

Richards: Colts Injury Report, Mixed Feelings

There's good news; there's bad news. According to Phil Richards, the Colts will be without Coby Fleener and Vontae Davis this Sunday. Davis has a sprained knee (glad we got him back, eh?), and Fleener's slightly dislocated his left shoulder. Actually, according to Richards, it's a subluxation, or temporary, partial dislocation of his left shoulder. In other news...

Dolphins visit Colts in battle of rookie QBs

With rookie quarterbacks and first-year coaches, the Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins were thought to be two of the NFL's bigger rebuilding projects. Instead, they sit with surprising 4-3 records heading into a matchup that holds legitimate playoff implications Sunday in Indianapolis. Both teams are coming off road victories that put them over .500 for the first time since...

Colts Expect To Be Without TE Colby Fleener & CB Vontae Davis For 2 Weeks

Colts interim HC Bruce Arians told reports that they are expecting TE Coby Fleener and CB Vontae Davis to miss at least the next two weeks because of injuries, per Phillip Wilson. Fleener is reportedly dealing with a partially dislocated shoulder, while Davis has a left knee sprain. Dwayne Allen will obviously see more playing time in the coming weeks, which is well deserved...

Indianapolis rules out 2 starters for Miami game

Colts interim coach Bruce Arians says rookie tight end Coby Fleener and cornerback Vontae Davis will not play Sunday against Miami. Both were injured last weekend at Tennessee. Davis left less than three minutes into the game with a left knee injury. Fleener left just before halftime after hurting his left shoulder. Arians says he hopes both starters will return to Indy's...

Indianapolis Colts Week 9: Miami Dolphins

The Indianapolis Colts take the field at Lucas Oils Stadium Sunday to play their most meaningful game of the season to date against the Miami Dolphins. These two former AFC East rivals were predicted by most to be at, or close to, the bottom of the division standings. In a show of how unpredictable the NFL truly is, both teams are instead holding down the second place spot in their...

Dolphins Gameplan: Set the tone early by playing physical

The Miami Dolphins head to Indianapolis on Sunday for an important matchup with the Colts. The Dolphins will look to improve to 5-3 and move into a tie with the Patriots atop the AFC East.  To do so, the Dolphins will have to play as aggressively and emotionally as they did against the trash talking Jets last week.  The Dolphins cannot afford a let down after beating their hated...

Dolphins game plan versus Colts

It's week nine of the NFL season and the Miami Dolphins take their three game winning streak to Indianapolis to take on the Colts in a game that was not expected to have much significance. However, those expectations are three months old and the matchup that was projected to decide which team would likely land the first overall pick in the 2013 draft now has...

AFC South Preview: Colts, Dolphins Hungry For Playoff Spot

Miami @ IndianapolisWhy Should I Care? The 4-3 Dolphins currently hold the fifth seed in the AFC. The 4-3 Colts, by way of what I bet is a very complex tie breaker, hold the sixth seed in the conference. These two teams have suddenly emerged as dark-horse playoff contenders. This matchup will decide who is able to hold on to that coveted playoff spot for at least one more week.By...
