On many reality television shows, the non-so-secret weapon is the "twist." Some sort of curveball thrown in to keep things interesting and create drama. It could be something like triple immunity, or a contestant that was eliminated gets a second chance or a participant gets to issue some sort of challenge to someone else. Well the AFC East is like a convoluted reality show. Except that the AFC East is actually real, and entertaining. Well not the Bills, they are that contestant who nobody knows or votes for. Over the last decade the Jets/Dolphins/Pats have given us: "…they ought to let you shop for some of the groceries," a head coach resigning one day after he was hired so he could take a job with a rival, ex-coaches being denied access to their personal belongings, draft picks being swapped for coaches, teams "buying" tapes to study quarterback signals, handshakes being analyzed and of course "Spygate." These are just the major events that are known to the public. You can bet there are plenty of under the radar things that have happened we know nothing about. How many players have been harassed for information about another teams' playbook? How many computers have been hacked? Phones tapped? The possibilities are endless. Bill Parcells orchestrated the latest twist when he signed former Jets quarterback Chad Pennington to a two-year deal to play for the Dolphins. This after the Jets made the race in the AFC more interesting by trading for the most prolific passer in NFL history. Of course the Jets open their season in Miami. Turning a game between two teams that combined for 5 wins a year ago to must see television. You can bet Eric Mangini has had his offensive coaches discard every hand signal, change every audible, and rename every play to combat any advantage Pennington can provide to the Dolphins defense. So while the NFC East may have more history, the AFC South has more talent, the AFC North has more star power. But for sheer drama and story lines, nothing tops the Patriots, Dolphins, and Jets. To borrow a line from a certain NFL drama queen, get your popcorn ready.

Apparently it's big news that Eric Mangini reminded Brett Favre today at practice, that despite his Hall of Fame resume, he's just one of the guys. He better watch the hell out for Zabka.

NEW YORK, NY — A disgruntled Brett Favre told reporters Thursday morning that he is “a little surprised and hurt” that he’s not being seriously considered as a potential running mate for Republican presidential candidate John McCain. “This is kind of a joke, no?” Favre asked. “Who out there has more name recognition than I [...]

Aaron Rodgers Spotted in Numerous Compromising Photos - Must See

After last night's Green Bay Packers preseason game, you'd think that Aaron Rodgers had won a Super Bowl. The entire sports world raved about his performance (although I don't find it to be anything remarkably special… it was a PRESEASON game!) - but I was impressed after seeing Brett Favre's replacement go on a world wide tour, drink some beer, win some gold medals...

Allen And Gruden Clear The Air On Favre

After spending much of last week, downplaying the Bucs interest in QB Brett Favre, General Manager Bruce Allen finally decided to clear the air yesterday on the Bucs involvement in the Favre drama.  I personally thought Allen's comments last week were classic, a blatent lie to the majority of our local Bay Area media jokers as well as a ton of national media.  The idea behind...

Brett Favre: The New Johan Santana!

Have I got a joke for you. Stop me if you've heard this one. Frequently beleaguered New York sports franchise finds itself riding high for the first time in several years thanks to a superlative 2006 season, only to fall flat on its face in spectacular fashion the following year. Franchise suddenly finds itself in damage control mode, faced with an unexpectedly and extraordinarily...

ESPN (Wendi) Nixes "Bristol, WI" Idea

All the way back in June, ESPN decided to send every single member of it's Football team to Green Bay for the Monday Night opener on September 8th. By the end of July, that whole and today the troops have been officially called off. Via the JS Online....ESPN no longer plans to send the entire "Monday Night Countdown" crew to Lambeau Field when the network carries...

Up Next: Burgundy & Gold!!!

There are going to be many people that place a lot of value on Saturday's action against the Skins. In reality though, this game will be much more telling for QB's 2 and 3, then it will be for #4! It's obvious that all Jets fans will be excited to see Brett Favre in his first action, and I'm sure it

The Sports Delorean: Worst Olympics Ever

When the International Olympic Committee unveils their choice for host city of the 2016 summer Olympic Games, the winner will undoubtedly have a contigency of people on hand that start freaking out like Ed Werder when he gets a text from Brett Favre. The reaction is fueled by the realization that their city just entered into a very exclusive club alongside some of the most prolific...

And A Brett Will Lead Them

I think it is safe to say with regard to the New York Jets, "Will the real Brett please stand up?" It may be early but speculating is the most fun a Jets fan has had for the past 40 years so when we said Brett Favre would be a Jet weeks ago it should not come as a surprise to our readers to say that Brett Ratliff will be the next in line. That's right. Brett squared...

Madden 09: The Snafu

I really feel for John Madden.  Not really, actually, but I'll just pretend to.  I mean, it's obvious he had wanted former Green Bay Packers quarterback/epic mancrush Brett Favre on the cover of his Madden video game series for a long, long time.  But Favre was too smart of a business man and he knew that if he appeared there, he was screwed.  Not that it really mattered...
