After minicamp tryout, Hansen signs with Eagles

Casey Hansen has earned a shot at an NFL career. The Norfolk State quarterback signed a three-year contract as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday, one day after returning from minicamp with the team that finished 8-8 last year. "It hasn't hit me yet," said the 6-foot-5, 235-pounder from Norco, Calif. "It's obviously a dream come true, something I've dreamed about since I was a little kid." Hansen is 1 of 4 quarterbacks in camp and the only rookie at that spot. Donovan McNabb sat out much of the camp with an injured right shoulder. Kevin Kolb and veteran A.J. Feeley are expected to compete for the backup spot. Hansen, a junior college transfer, spent two years with NSU and threw for 4,277 yards, second most in the Spartan record book. In leading NSU to an 8-3 record last season, he completed 164 of 310 passes with nine touchdowns and eight interceptions. Hansen is the first NSU quarterback to sign with the NFL since all-time leading passer Aaron Sparrow in 1995. "We're excited for him," Norfolk State coach Pete Adrian said. "The hardest thing to do is go into camp and get a look. He's got great size and a good arm." Hansen said he was pleased with the three days he spent at minicamp and heard from the Eagles on Monday night while in the airport ready to return to Norfolk. He will return to Philadelphia on May 19. "They ended up liking what I showed them," Hansen said. Until that date, Hansen plans to stay in shape and work on throwing while reviewing notes from camp. The fifth-year senior will graduate Saturday with a degree in interdisciplinary studies.

huh big boy 6'5 nice weight

kinda looks like one of big reds kids

As soon as I saw the Pic that's what I thought.....LOL!!!!!!!!!!

know what, i though the same thing LMAO!!!!!

So does this kid

I wonder if Andy can do the truffle shuffle?

camp body, nothing more

aw thank u & with a brand new account as of today, thanks for stoppin by my little corner here~u have a kicken day ;0 !!!

Nice story, but he has no chance to make the team

I see Feeley holding onto the #2 spot for one more season. But if something would happen to Donovan, god forbid, my opinion would be to get Kolb some valuable experience. Hanson looks to become the future #3 guy.

yeah he does look like andys son LOL LOL

Wow that boy has some nice size... maybe he could make the practice squad this year and eventually replace Feeley.

yeah thats what i was thinking.

Yea we need consistency not interceptions... sorry AJ But Please we dont need that now we got height n speed i hope he gets 3rd string QB n Kolb can Get 2nd

hey, thanks for the positive feedback, i thought this was an interesting move, no matter what he ends up being or not being to the team, an interesting move and a sign that things are still movin & groovin in philly~as always,
peace out
ck0712

Think we could get Miami to give us another 2nd rounder for Feeley??? LOL

Haha maybe a trade straight up for Taylor? Yeah right!

im not trying to bring or complain lol but i checked on the roster and on wikipedia an i dont see that he signed with the Eagles So maybe they may be delayed on updating the roster but i dont know if he is in or not... in terms of being on the team

Hey guys comment on my latest article regarding Marvin Harrison and Reggie Brown tell me what yall think...

OMG the eagles got another QB. Where are all the rumors about this guy taking Kolbs spot. Or maybe he'll start this year and force McNabb into early retirement.

Interesting stuff, I honestly never heard of the kid, but we really don't even know for sure that Kolb can play. I mean we all think and hope....adding a big guy with a cannon just to see how it could work out as a no 3 in case Feely goes, its really a no-lose situation...he doesnt make the team, we lose nothing. How can anyone be negative about this??? ANOTHER good post ck...Thank u....

thank u!!!! if u need stat info i've got it ~

From what I saw Kolb do in the preseason last year, I think he's the real deal. He seems very comfortable in the pocket and has a good touch on the ball (and he can run!). This kid does make for a good prospect though. Smart move by the FO.

Smart move by the FO.
agreed, if anyone on here read the press conference minutes i blogged yesterday AM...heckert got this deal done!!

he's a big boy but i don't think he'll make the team. the eagles like kolb and feely is proven back up vetern so i don't see how this kid makes the team maybe next year if the birds trade feely or something

another hall?

hey ck I live in virginia beach and i catch NSU games from time to time.. This guy aint all that bad especially if you seen what he had to work with! So i'm happy! Good move by FO, plus this guy can take a hit by a train and get back up!!!!!!!!!! I've seen him take a few and bounce right back up!

If he does well (which i'm not counting on just yet) Whats going to happen with AJ?

mcnabb didn't have a shoulder injury. reid held him out of the last day b/c he already played the first 2 days and he already threw the amount that they wanted him to throw.

maybe we can now trade aj to one of the many qb deprived teams in the nfl

or Tampa Bay will swallow AJ Feely into their QB black hole and cough up a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick next year. otherwise i think that the Bears would take him too, for the same price.

This was a good decision........

Who said Donovan hurt his sholder? Andy Reid said they count his throws like in baseball a pitch count give the link to that Donovan injury.

he never said he was hurt.

I went to NSU and My cousin played with Casey while he was @ NSU ((Emery Sammons 6'2 190lbs)) .. This guy is nice.. likeed the guy said above.. based on what he had "offensive line <-- tertrible and he still made things happen.. so i can imagine what he can do behind a NFL size line.. his arm is seriously strong, he is accurate like helllllllllll ... go to NSU website and check it int ratio.. he finished with a QB rating of like 119.00%... so i'm ready to see what he has to offer the eagles and go figure i'm from PHilly too so I'm glad on both sides to see good things happen... Oh yeah My cousin EMERY WILL BE TRYING OUT WITH THEM THIS SPRING SO LOOK OUT.. 1-AA MAKING MOVES THIS YEAR!!!!!!

NICE!!!!!! thank u so much for the positive feedback on him!!! i was on the NSU website, after talking with the reporter who wrote the story i blogged, the links in the above blog!!!
Keep us posted if you don't mind!!

He is cool b/c he is tattooed up
