Analysis of Samuel's impact on the Eagles, should they sign him

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Asante Samuel will be targeted by the Philadelphia Eagles. For those wondering what this means for Sheldon Brown and Lito Sheppard, the move would be perfect for the Eagles.

Great article, I like this move. Hopefully we can beat out the Jets and put together one of the Best D's in the NFC.

this would be a huge pick up, everyone's so concerned with getting roy or a no. 1 reciever, but the Giants just proved what a solid d can do.......win a ring, even against the "greatest offense of all time"

I couldn't imagine a backfield with Dawk, Brown, Samuel's, and Sheppard. I'm sold on Mikell and Reed as back ups at safety. Considine could find himself as trade bait.

samuel would be a hell of a weapon........Think about it........one of those four monsters could get hurt....J.R. and Q would be there to cover.....damn think about it we could be the most destructive secondary in the league.....there would be no holes........

And no excuses!!! They could still draft a big time CB for the future..get rid of james, and keep hanson. WOW!!! WOWOWOWOW!!!!!

I agree Hanson can handle himself James is a waste get rid of some of the dead wieght and pay Asante and a WR some money so we can win some friggin games

i would like this move because yes samuel will cost alot but they would be filling two needs with one signing by allowing brown to move to strong saftey and room the field more. this would be great. I would even rather the eagles do this then go after Fitz (who would costs as much) or Chad Johnson

it sounds too good to be true!!!! i'm so sick of suxico just having his way with our secondary!!!!! as for considine they'll keep him cause he's one of fat boy's boys!!! they'll keep him and waste more money on him so he can give the mormons more money!! lets also not forget the eagles are cheap!!! asante will be asking alot!!!

GUYS IT WOULD BE A GREAT MOVE

i will be hapy wih him here in philly i just hope we get em

happy

i hope the eagles draft Tom Zbikowski ss from notre dames this will be a big upgrade and hes a p/R

Samuels will help any team. A lock down corner with experience. Enough said.

Asante will make us better 10x. A secondary of Lito and Asante to cover and B-Dawk and Sheldon as safties! They are two of the hardest hitters in the league, and unlike Roy williams they can cover too. D wins super bowls ... look at the giants.

lifetime21 --- im a ND fan and Zbikowski is a monster! id love to grab him up n the 2nd or 3rd round.

you know what, i was actually sick of the asante samuel to the eagles talk...but you make some great points. moving brown to SS will be a good move and you still have mikell (who played very well last year) who can come in on special packages. samuel will also be insurance for the great-but-injury-prone sheppard. if he happens to get hurt, they can move brown back to CB and move mikell into the starting SS position. asomugha for the raiders is a great option as well and the eagles would be able to do the same thing with him. additionally, asomugha is a big CB that can match up on a island with the buress's and t.o.'s of the world.

the front 7 is going to be dynamic, i would like to see them get a veteran leader like mike rucker from carolina to add to that very young d-line.

Mortenson starts more damn rumors than a bunch of old-timers at a senior citizen's center.

the eagles can target him all them want, but the pats will not trade asante samuels.

they don't need to trade him, he is a free agent

true true, but i still think the pats r going to take him back

I don't think they'll have room if they have to resign Moss and Samuel said he's not going to give the Pats a discount.

Not if they don't match the offer from another team. I think he's gone.

Pretty silly backfield, would arguably be the best in the league. I wouldn't mind seeing this, which is contrary to my initial reaction to the article (fuck Samuel and his wing flappin') - but the guy is good.

He's a ballhawk and he takes chances jumping routes, but he usually gets the job done.

hey people go to my profile and look at my articals, please comment
