After three days of dedication and hard work in the first week of camp, Brian Billick granted the veteran players the luxury to spend their nights at home instead of the hotel. To be fair to the rest of the team and reward their efforts, Billick gave the team an extra hour of rest, starting the morning session at 9:15 am. His generosity did not go unnoticed by his players, as the mood and at camp was taken up a notch. In a word, the morning session was intense. Sitting out today's action was Jonathan Ogden, Mike Kracalik, Kelly Gregg, Justin Green, Quinn Sypniewski, Yamon Figures and Antwan Barnes. Even with the hard hitting and killer instincts of the players, there were no serious injuries this morning. With temperatures reaching in the mid to high 90's today, the Ravens staff set up the cool fans, though the players were too engaged in practice to give the heat a second though, let alone sit under the fans. After the morning stretch, the defensive backs worked on technique and just where the interception point is on pass routes. Every team employs the same routes; they just mix up the formations and alternate when they use the route. Each route has a place where the ball will be thrown. On an in-route, for instance, that may be three yards after the receiver makes his cut. The depth of the route may change, but the interception point remains the same. When a receiver makes his cut, a defender, with proper trailing technique, can jump a route easily and break up the pass or intercept the ball.
