Lil it's what I've been saying, crazier things have happened, but they believe in them. What really sucks is we might if we're lucky draft a receiver that can return punts and kick offs. Desean Jackson comes to mind, but they won't waste an early pick on someone like him. If he fell to round three or four they would. I hate it as much as anyone, cause I think this trio needs a big upgrade...badly

Yhey may go with Jackson or a WR in the 1st if the top 5 OTs are gone, they would wait til the 2nd possibly. but it that scenario S Kenny Philips becomes a stong possibility too if hes there.

I hope your right, cause all they talked about in 04 was how they went back and watched tape and realized that they needed to upgrade at the WR position. Those last three games were good and bad...if they would have lost them or barely won, there would be no doubt that they needed an upgrade. I saw the interview, he didn't deny trying to trade for Fitz, he denied trading Lito and a 2nd rounder to Fitz. Plus why would he even say they're shopping Lito? That'd drop his value significantly.

i would say the same thing to cover my ass if i had passed up or didnt even try on every good available WR. We all know thats what we need. Here goes another analogy...You can have all of the gunpowder you want but without that spark nothing will explode!!!! I.E. McNabb=Gunpowder.....I do not care what anybody says, when healthy we have one of the best QBs in the game.(healthy being another issue) He needs a target, someone who can and will catch the ball in any situation, crucial or not. The receivers we have now are GOOD, but think of them with one more distraction on the field. I think alot of us love to blame Mcnabb i am guilty of that as well BUT, most of the problems are not his fault. I wouldn't take this too seriously. Think about how aggressively we just went after Randy Moss. The Eagles made it pretty clear we're willing to spend a lot to get a star WR. If it becomes evident that the Fitzgerald situation in Arizona is going to cost them too much and they get an offer from Philly like Sheppard, the first round pick, and maybe someone else, I don't see why the Eagles would neglect that deal when they almost just spent a chunk of money on Randy Moss.

Banner's just trying to quell the rumors and keep the hype about such a trade to a minimum. There's a better chance of it happening if Arizona isn't listening to constant clamoring for such a trade to happen.

Think about the fact they didnt schedule one WR visit. NOT 1.

Listen.... Everyone wants to go jump of the band wagon right now because we havent pulled in a number 1 so far. The organization is not dumb, they know that they couldnt score in the redzone last year and they know that the reason that they were 8-8 was not because the defense needed the number one Free Agent on the board. Every move that they have made so far points to the fact that they are willing to spend the money to turn it around. Just because one of the steps became available first ( being to solidify there defense and create more turnovers) does not mean in any way that they feel it is the only need, or the most important need. Everyone needs to chill. The reason the eagles have not gone out and gotten a number 1 so far this season is not because they didnt think its important, but because what true number 1 has been available? Moss...? they did all they can do. They were smart in knowing the fact that no other FA on the board was a true number 1.... so they didnt go get it. They have attempted to get Fitz at least once, and probably are not done. For once, they seem to be doing all they can possibly do at this point in order to bring in a first rate reciever. Now everyone needs to just realize that and give them time...

the way i see it, after looking at whos been signed, the only worthwhile free agent receiver out there is DJ hackett, and i like the kid, so why not bring him in and talk to him

If mcnabb had not been hurt early in the year, this would have been a playoff caliber team last year so i'm not entirely upset if the same offense returns from last year, especially with a better defense. Asante Samuel was not a "lateral" move. Lito sheppard is a good player, but do you think that he would have fetched the contract offers that samuel recieved? Probably not. Samuel has more picks than anyone in the league the last two years and lito can't stay on the field with that bum knee of his. If you think about it, samuel is much better than the 12 games you get out of lito and 4 with joselio hanson. As much as I would like to see an upgrade at receiver, the defense will be top 5 this year. With the young d line and linebackers gaining more experience, they should be stout.

Man Joe Banner is a fucking idiot, If he thinks that WR core is going to get the job done, If the offense don't move the ball this year, then Mcnabb will take the blame once again, which is not fair because he has no one to throw to, Joe Banner needs a clue

Wow, if we don't get McNabb any WR to throw to I can guarantee that the offense will be only slightly better than last years. Javon walker has just been signed leaving us with no options. I realize that McNabb is healthy and he shouldn't be a problem considering has only had 1 stud WR during his 10 year career. LJ SMith can only be better when he's healthy right. So maybe the offense id fine like its been insisted. But this offense needs a playmaker at the WR position. I'm sure when McNabb and Westbrook asked for playmakers they ment on offense.

Gentlemen please read that report again. If you read "between the lines" you will notice statements like "WE are not actively trying to trade lito" but they never said that they are not trying to ACTIVELY trade for Larry or a different wr in the league. He is driving the interest up for lito. Basically he said they are not trying to trade lito but if lito is the final selling point to make a trade happen then so be it. Face it Lito is expenadable. If a team doesnt request Lito to make the trade happen then we dont have to trade him and keep the best secondary together, but if we find that player we really want and they say throw in Lito Sheppard and you got a deal then Lito's gone. Dont give up Eagle fans free agency isnt over, the draft day trades havn't started yet, and the season debut is a long ways away. We have time to get that wr. And we will get him.

Dude I've been on here almost everyday, but never posted until this artical by xxxPHxxx. I've also skimmed through some of these replies, but yours says it best. "The season debut is a long way, we have time to get that wr." Some fans are wormy as sh!t to have that # 1 WR right here, right now. No....Look back in '03 - '04. At the end of the '03 the FO finally understood that if you have a "STUD" wr, you get the number one offense that year! and I'll be honest, I never imagine TO coming to Phila, not once, nope not all. Then the Cinderalla Story happens and next thing you know , TO becomes an EAGLE in '04. So if really you think about it, the FO seems to always have an answer, and yes I know Banner tries to sell us that GREEN Kool-Aid bull, but give the FO (except the GUY that doesn't know talent Tom H) some props in acquireing TO that year. Always remember, Don't read too much into it their line of crap, sh!t who knows...this could be another one of those CINDERALLA story, but it won't one end with just one Super Bowl. If Joe Banner comes out and says publicly that they are targeting Larry Fitzgerald then it would be expected by us and they would probably get blasted in the media if it didn't happen. No one is going to say anything until it actually happens. Two weeks ago, the Eagles denied that they were going to trade Lito, they still are denying it, and we all know that the Eagles have been shopping him around. We can't say it won't happen until Larry Fitzgerald resigns with the Cards.
