Found November 25, 2008 on Fired For Winning:
Only a miracle is going to keep Donovan McNabb in Philly beyond the next 5 games of this season. And, God willing, Andy Reid's is out the door with him. But who else are the Birds going to be missing next season? A quick look at the roster, expiring contracts, and potential cap hits has me saying goodbye to these gentleman during their farewell tour of Philadelphia. QB: Donovan McNabb - he's signed through 2013, but with a base salary of $9.2M and a cap hit of only $1.16M if he's cut, it's goodbye #5. RB: Correll Buckhalter - He's a free agent after this season (he made $1M in 2008) and I'm guessing he won't be back. It's a shame too - the guy is a warrior. FB: Dan Klecko - Thanks to Reid's ineptness Klecko is being forced to play FB. He's a valuable chip at DT, but he'll be a free agent after his one-year deal is up at the end of the season. WR: Greg Lewis - Glew is just not getting it done. On offense or special teams. The Birds will have to eat $116K on the cap to part ways with him. WR: Hank Baskett - Baskett is a restricted free agent after the season, but I'm sure the Eagles will want to hold onto him. He's a dynamic special teamer and a good hands guy at WR. Plus, it'll keep Kendra Wilkinson around the lockerroom. TE: LJ Smith - So much for earning that big, new contract. LJ was Philly's franchise designee this season, "earning" $4.5M. He'll be lucky to make half of that next year. TE: Matt Schobel - He's signed through 2010, but Schobel is pretty much worthless at this point. When he's cut it'll be a $240K cap hit. OT: Tra Thomas - Big Tra is probably the greatest OT to ever play in Philadelphia, but time seems to have caught up to him a bit. Thomas will finish off his 9-year deal at the end of the season. It's not out of the realm of possibilities for him to be back, but a lot will depend on the draft and whether Reid is retained. OT: Jon Runyan - Arguably Reid's best free agent signee, Runyan is a beast at RT. But his latest 3-year deal is up and it's pretty certain he won't continue his consecutive game streak in Philly next year. OT: Winston Justice - Another of Andy's 2nd-round busts, the man Runyan called a pussy may not get to fulfill his entire rookie deal. He has one year left after 2008, where he stands to make $1.075M. If he's cut the Birds take a $538K hit. OL: Nick Cole - Cole will be a free agent after the season. He's a useful piece but replaceable. LB: Tracy White - Who the heck knows whether the anonymous special teamer will be back. I haven't seen enough of him to think he's a must-resign guy. I would hope Joe Mays step in for him? S: Brian Dawkins - The heart and soul of so many good Eagles teams, BDawk is going to be set out to pasture at the end of the season. I'd be surprised if he came back with another team. He's obviously lost 3 or 4 steps, and the man bleeds Eagles green. Here's to Wolverine stepping out of the sun in Eagles colors. S: Sean Considine - It won't be soon enough to get this guy off the roster. Considine can't cover or tackle particularly well. Good luck finding another team. K: David Akers - After a rough start to the season Akers has turned it around a bit, but doubt still lingers about the vet's ability to make the big kick from over 40 yards. He's signed through 2010, but the Eagles can part ways with him for meager $210K cap hit.

Turkey, Mashed potatoes, and Corn on the Kolb??!!

By Kevin Trainham: Well, another week has passed and the Eagles have once again fallen. They fell very hard and lost not only the game, but quite possibly the man who has been the face of the franchise for ten years.Far be it from me to say whether or not it was the right call to bench him, I ...

Much Like Economy, Westbrook Strapped For A$$

After the benching of Donovan McNabb yesterday, the Eagles are a team in turmoil. Yesterday against Balto, the club lost said quarterback and the game 36-7 - and running back Brian Westbrook nearly lost his pants:(Clay Aiken: Big fan of strapping jocks?) Speaking of edited photos, remember that ...

A CHANGE IS NEEDED WIT THE EAGLES NOW!!

The Eagles are at a crossroads and need to make some major changes this off season. There is no way they can move forward with the same philosophy and expect to be a winning football organization. This is my look at the Eagles Coaching Staff and Active Roster. Who should stay and who must go. Head Coach-Andy Reid: It's not that the team struggles here and there under...

Run Donovan!

I have little doubt that history will continue to repeat itself on Thursday and the Eagles run game will be non-existent. Westbrook is hurt, Buckhalter is out, and does anyone trust Klecko or Booker running the ball? So I guess it will again be pass, pass, and pass against the Cardinals?Well ...

Raw deal for McNabb

I am not an Eagles fan. Not one bit. But I have to say that I feel for Donovan McNabb. The guy plays for a marquee NFL franchise in what is easily one of the hardest sports cities on planet earth. Philadelphia is brutal on their athletes and I remeber that '99 draft and the sound of anger and dismay when his name was called. Now let's look at that draft for a minute...

So - Who's Your Quarterback?

Do I have to write something about the Eagles? Ugh. Well, the sports gods have given us a swift kick of karma since the Phillies won the World Series, haven't they? Since the parade down Broad, the Eagles have gone 1-2-1, eliminated themselves from playoffs contention, and unceremoniously ended ...

McNabb to Start vs Arizona

According to Head Coach Andy Reid, Donovan McNabb will be the starting quarterback Thanksgiving night when the Eagles play host to the 7-4 Arizona Cardinals. Due to the short week, Reid apparently feels Donovan gives his team the best opportunity to compete. After seeing Kevin Kolb for a half yesterday this comes as no real surprise. Reid also gave his standard "I need to do...

Window of Opportunity: Closed

As I write this, there're still three minutes left in 4th quarter of the Eagles-Ravens game, and the Eagles are losing 36-7. After throwing 2 INTs and losing a fumble, Andy Reid did the unthinkable and benched Donovan McNabb at halftime. He really had no choice, as McNabb has been playing the ...

"That's a very well-coached football team. They're going to continue to win a lot of games."

That's Ravens coach Jim Harbaugh, standing up for the guy that used to employ him. It's not nice when you lie, Jim, even if you have good intentions.* * * * *So, just because there's no escaping the discussion of this... well, no, Donovan McNabb wasn't playing very well today. He was far from alone in that. He also had turned the ball over seven times in his last...

Asante Samuel Doubtful for Cardinals Game

Talk about a bad game to lose one of your best corners. Asante Samuel has been listed as doubtful for tomorrow's game against the wide receiving stacked Arizona Cardinals.Let's play the "guess which Eagle said this quote" game: "When you have a group of receivers that this cat is throwing the ballto, not taking anything away from him, but if you look at the ...

Eagles to Go Back to McNabb to Start Thursday vs Cardinals

Despite being benched after a first half of awful football, the Eagles are going to go back to Donovan McNabb for Thursday night's showdown at home with the Arizona Cardinals. "Sometimes you have to step back to step forward in a positive way and Donovan will do that," coach Andy Reid said. ...
