Boley, one of Falcons' top tacklers in '07, charged with battery

WHERE does this end?-everyday it's another arrest, charge etc..

Falcons linebacker Michael Boley, who was one of Atlanta's leading tacklers in 2007, was charged with battery on Saturday, police said.

The 25-year-old Boley, who was a fifth-round draft pick in 2005 out of Southern Mississippi, was released on $1,200 bond.

"The Falcons organization is aware of the situation and will have no comment at this time," Falcons vice president of football communications Reggie Roberts said.

Boley had 110 tackles, four forced fumbles and two interceptions last season for Atlanta.

The Falcons have struggled with image issues highlighted by franchise quarterback Michael Vick's 23-month imprisonment on federal charges related to operating a dogfighting operation. The team also stumbled to a 4-12 record last season and head coach Bobby Petrino quit mid-season.

Boley, according to the newspaper, has drawn praise for taking care of his autistic son and his work as a spokesman for the disorder. He signed a one-year contract in April for just over $2 million, but both sides were working on a long-term extension.

I read somewhere that football players have a hard time diffusing their anger and have a difficult time coping with alternative actions (other than violence due to the nature of their "job/lifestyle"). I can sort of see what they are saying, but given that you don't hear many boxers giving a right jab to their spouses, it's a hard sell to say the least.

My personal feelings are that if you have to resort to violence. You've already lost the battle.

so when they startin the prison league up

i read it interesting i think they need to get back to playin ball before we are left with no one to play not bein smart either its everytime i log in an see the headlines ya know

interesting latin, thank u!!!

Well it's hard to keep a tight reign on 1500+ players. Eventually SOMEONE is going to make a mistake. Unfortunately it happens in bunches.

true, but it just seems to be getting way to out of hand :(

Yeah....way too often now. Guess you have to look at the backgrounds and where most of these players came from. Hard to change old habits and then when they get all of that money, they want to make it rain like Pacman or some other stupid stuff with it.

Just incredible that these athletes can't control themselves. If anyone remembers espn's show playmakers- that was canceled because the nfl players complained about it being unrealistic-it would seem that maybe they had it right

ain't it though time to get back to playin ball before 1/2 the league is locked up

Yeah........some guys are going to have to get paroled just so we can fill the NFL rosters.
