Can you imagine Brett Favre and Steve Smith playing together? Boy, I sure can.
Do not get me wrong, I like Jake Delhomme as much as the next, but Favre sure would make things in Charlotte much more interesting this season.
When I think to myself about this very plausible possibility, it truly brings back memories of a young Brett Favre hooking up with an explosive Sterling Sharpe on countless fantastic plays. Steve Smith may not be the same type of receiver as Sterling was, but he is certainly one of the most prolific receivers in the game today.
Likewise, Brett Favre is not the young man he once was, but he can still sling it with the best of them. The guy passed for 4,155 yards on 535 attempts, and completed 66.5 percent of his passes this past season.
Moreover, Brett chalked up 28 touchdowns while throwing only 15 interceptions, and earned a QB rating of 95.7. Let's face it; those numbers are not too shabby for an old man.
Other than playing with Steve Smith, why would Favre like to play with the Panthers this year? Well, how about a bolstered offensive line and running game?
This offseason the Panthers went out and acquired some beef with the signings of three free agent guards in Keydrick Vincent, Milford Brown and Toniu Fonoti, who weigh in at an average of 332 pounds.
They also drafted bruising running back Jonathan Stewart, who is 5'10" and 235 pounds, to complement the talented DeAngelo Williams.
Now this may be some wildly concocted dream, but maybe not. The Panthers could feasibly acquire Favre for the price of say, a couple of third rounders and taking on his gargantuan contract.
Is it worth it? Probably not, when considering all things, but I would love to see it happen anyway.

Grant Threatens Holdout
As the offseason progresses for the Packers, someone other than Brett Favre gets involved in the news. Sensational running back Ryan Grant, a one-year wonder so far, is threatening to holdout of training camp if he does not receive a new long-term deal. According to Grant's agent, Alan Herman, Grant deserves this:
"You would think that it would not be that difficult...

AARON RODGERS IS NOT GOING TO SUCK
by Andrew, The Grand National ChampionshipsI'm not here to make the claim that Favre in 2007 would bring a downgrade to Rodgers in 2008. The asshole was awesome. But you know what? It was a lot more supporting cast aided then everybody's saying and the folks at Bring Back Brett Favre are nothing more than terrorists.Polite, well-meaning, unorganized terrorists. But by the...
Packers quietly looking for takers on Favre
By Adam Schefter | NFL Network
An idea once even more unthinkable than a Brett Favre comeback is now under consideration.
The Green Bay Packers have begun contacting other NFL teams to see what they would be willing to offer for Favre.
It is unknown exactly how many teams the Packers have spoken with, but what is known is that they have not relegated their exploratory...
Eagles showing interest in Brett Favre?
I honestly don't know what to make of this story. The Eagles, who already have Donovan McNabb and his heir apparent Kevin Kolb at quarterback, have reportedly been in contact with the Green Bay Packers about the availability of Brett Favre, according to ESPN and Sporting News. Apparently, the Packers called the Eagles to see if they had any interest in trading for the possibly...
IT'S BRETT'S WORLD, WE JUST LIVE IN IT

ESPN's "Favre Fest 2008" Might Be In Jeopardy
YES! More Brett Favre news!!! Actually this tidbit is somewhat interesting if you consider that one of the main reasons ESPN picked the Vikings at Packers for its MNF opener was because of the impending Favre ceremony. ESPN's move of its entire core of NFL reporters and personalities to Green Bay this September could be in jeopardy because the Packers might be calling the...
Bucs Interested In Favre?
Training camp is just two days away, and there could be a new quarterback in town for the Buccaneers. According to reports, the Bucs are one of several teams in the running for Packers quarterback Brett Favre. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell wants the Packers to resolve the matter by this weekend, so a trade involving Favre could be imminent.
MSM's Erroneous Reporting
On Tuesday we cited a Milwaukee Sentinel-Journal report that Brett Favre had used his "Packers issued" cell phone to communicate (illegally) with the Minnesota Viking staff.
Well shame on us for assuming the Sentinel-Journal was a legitimate source.
Today, ESPN is reporting "Packers didn't give Favre team-issued cell phone" according to sources of the...
Favre Caught in Web of Espionage
And by "espionage" I mean "stupidity."
From Access Vikings:
[Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Bob] McGinn writes that a source said Favre had continued to use a Packers-issued cell phone and that when the team checked the phone records it found "repeated calls to coach Brad Childress and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell."

The only benefit to Favre signing with the Panthers would be to have a darn interesting pre-season. hehe.
