WR Greg Camarillo has been traded to the Minnesota Vikings.  According to reports, the Dolphins are receiving cornerback Benny Sapp as compensation.  Sapp will back up starters Vontae Davis and Sean Smith. With Sidney Rice requiring surgery and Percy Harvin continuing to suffer from migraines, the trade was necessary for Minnesota.  The trade leaves the Dolphins with only three reliable receivers but adds more depth to a struggling secondary. In Miami, Camarillo had dropped to fourth on the depth chart.  Pat Turner and Marlon Moore are now both expected to make the final roster.

Greg Camarillo

According to Football Outsiders, Greg Camarillo did not have a single drop last season on his 73 targets (50 catches). The Vikings had a new need, and they seem to have filled it with a player that can be reliable and useful.

Vikings Trade for Wide Receiver Greg Camarillo

Clearly, the Vikings don’t believe Javon Walker is the answer to their wide receiver problem.  Which is why the team just made a trade with the Dolphins to acquire wide-out Greg Camarillo (this from Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald). Camarillo looks, on the surface, like a nice pick-up for the Vikes.  Last year, his fourth in the pros, he caught 50 balls for 550 yards...

Trade of Greg Camarillo reminds us how callous NFL can be

Just like that, good man and receiver Greg Camarillo goes from being a roster fixture, a locker room leader and a player who saved the franchise from infamy to an afterthought, a commodity to be invested in and divested of for the sake of doing business.

WR Camarillo caught off guard by trade to Vikings

Just two days ago, the only time Greg Camarillo figured to be spending in Minnesota was when his Miami Dolphins play here in September.

Vikings acquire WR Camarillo from Dolphins

The Minnesota Vikings have reportedly acquired wide receiver Greg Camarillo from the Miami Dolphins.

Dolphins Focused on D, Thigpen to be Traded also?

The Miami Dolphins dealt Greg Camarillo to Minnesota this afternoon for Benny Sapp, as reported by the Dolphins organization.  It was a big move from several aspects: trading away a veteran player who is a good possession-type receiver and acquiring a veteran cornerback.  But clearly, the Dolphins are still focused on D.  My thoughts on Tyler Thigpen though are just speculation...

Miami Dolphins: Greg Camarillo goes, Benny Sapp arrives

Trading from a position of strength, the Miami Dolphins have dealt a wide receiver who didn’t drop a single pass last season (Greg Camarillo) for an experienced nickel cornerback with South Florida roots (Benny Sapp). While Camarillo’s class, professionalism and precise route-running will be missed, it’s another indication Will Allen might not be back as soon as initially portrayed...

Dolphins' Trade WR Greg Camarillo to Minnesota Vikings

by Andy KentFiled under: Cowboys, AFC East, NFL Training CampDAVIE, Fla. -- Going down the list of players inside the practice bubble on Wednesday afternoon, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Greg Camarillo curiously was not among them and now we know why. Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald was the first to report that the veteran wide receiver had been traded to the Minnesota Vikings...

Camarillo, Thomas Out, Sapp In

The Miami Dolphins front office was rather busy today clearing roster space and acquiring another veteran cornerback. While getting Benny Sapp from the Minnesota Vikings, the Dolphins did have to give up reliable receiver Greg Camarillo. Camarillo is most famously known for his game winning reception back in 2007 that gave the Dolphins their first, and lone win of the season. The...

Percy Harvin Returns to Practice

Amid Camarillo-mania, another piece of awesome news has come across the Twitter ticker:  A week after being hospitalized with a severe migraine possibly brought on by a bad reaction to medication, Percy Harvin is back on the practice field with the Vikings. So far, Percy has not vomited, passed out or begun hallucinating giant pink rabbits. Between this and the Greg Camarillo trade...
