Cowboys trade Ayodele, Fasano to Dolphins for fourth-round pick

The Dallas Cowboys traded linebacker Akin Ayodele and tight end Anthony Fasano to the Miami Dolphins for a fourth-round draft pick, a person familiar with the deal said Friday.

The person didn't want to be identified because the Dolphins and Cowboys hadn't confirmed the trade. The Dolphins have repeatedly tapped the Dallas pipeline since the arrival of former Cowboys coach Bill Parcells in December to run Miami's football operations.

The draft pick is No. 100 overall Saturday. The Dolphins have eight other picks and will use the No. 1 overall choice to take tackle Jake Long, who has already signed a five-year contract worth $57.75 million, $30 million of it guaranteed.

Ayodele has been a starter for the past five seasons and made 55 tackles last year. His spot with the Cowboys may be filled by Zach Thomas, acquired after the Dolphins released him in February.

Fasano, a second-round pick in 2006, has made 14 receptions in each of his first two NFL seasons and is expected to contend for a starting job with the Dolphins.

Miami will still be looking to upgrade in the draft at quarterback, cornerback, defensive end, guard and receiver.

interesting deal

I like it. Two starters for a 4th? Nice bit of business. Anyone else think the Cowboys are stockpiling a few picks in order to trade up for D-Mac...?

could be shady, getting some good guys there from the looks of it, best of luck to your team but looks like with tuna at the helm ya'll are gonna be rokin this year

This replaces the 4th round pick that they had to give TN for Pacman.

Lookin better for sure. Throw in a CB with #32 and we could be 5-11 or 6-10 this year (which doesn't sound great but with the personnel changes on AND off the field would be good progress).

Parcells and Ireland are rolling, for sure. They will the the Dolphins turned around. Have a good one.

we will know soon enough shady, fiver should be loggin in this AM ;0 !!! he's the resident cowboy man !!
and i agree with hubby - does indeed look good for the dolphins this year, CONGRATS!!!!

Here I is........LOL. I guess we'll just trade teams with the Fins.

Heard about his last night and you may be right. That's the first thing I thought of. Fasano wasn't really a starter though. He's a backup tight end, but I am surprised they are moving him just because I thought he was a decent backup and the second tight end in the two tight-end formations. Should be an interesting day. Have fun.

Never mind, Shady. I thought you were referring to the two Cowboys being starters here. They will be for Miami, I'm sure. Sorry about that. Not awake yet.

LOL. N/p. Now go down another can of Red Bull cus it's gonna be a long day ;-)

NOt even going to be able to tune in. Have to attend family reunion out in the sticks today. Will have to check it out later.

DOH!!! You seen the PFT article I posted up on McFadden? Doesn't sound like they're big fans of his. Would you take him if the deal was right?

I just think we would have to give up too much. I just have a sneaking suspicion that we are going to try and get a receiver. I don't see anything else in the draft that we would be moving up for at this point. McFadden is a good player, but selling the farm to get him is not something I would want to do.

2 starters?????? check again ayodele started and did nice...... but fasano was a luxury not a starter remember they have a tieghtend by the name you might of heard of him jason witten...... now they gained 24 spots in the 4th from the pick they gave up for pac-man......not bad move but not great i think they could of gotten a little better

Read back to 2.4

;-)

I'll take what we did today. No complaints here.

hmm the Miami Cowboys i mean dolphins looking good for the future haha Parcells is one of a kind

No doubt the guy has a nose for talent except for Bobby Carpenter......hahaha. He didn't want him after talking Jones into taking him in the draft a couple of years ago. Good special teams player and still could turn into a decent LB. Now, if we could just get them to give us Jake Long.

Naw, it's not the Miami Cowboys - there's now Cowboys (West) and Cowboys (East), LOL

I think we should be able to swtich players between teams during the season based on needs against the opponents. Why not?

what's up CK, Five, and Wanna...Cowboys making the loud offseason noise is commencing now, and cannot wait until the Draft kicks at 3...got to sneak on for a few...hope all is well, and today is kinda of a big day! LOL

Are you happy with yours? I think the Pats got a decent corner.
