New York Jets rookie runningback, Danny Woodhead, was placed on the waived injury list over the weekend after suffering a leg injury in practice on Friday. Woodhead rushed for a NCAA record 7,692 in his four seasons at Chardon State. He rushed for more than 200 yards, 19 times and scored a touchdown in 37 straight games, both are NCAA all-division records. As a junior he rushed for 2,756 yards and 34 TD's. He also totaled 9,479 all-purpose yards, which is second highest in college football history. The Nebraska native was named a two-time Harlon Hill Trophy winner as the nation's top Division II football player.
He was not invited to the pre-draft combine in February and was not one of the 27 running backs drafted. However, he had a strong pro day in Lincoln running the 40 between 4.33 and 4.38 He recorded a vertical jump of 38 1/2 inches and bench-pressed 225 pounds 20 times. Before the 2008 NFL draft ended he received a call from the Jets, and signed in April. He was looking to make the roster along with fellow undrafted players: Brandon Moore, Ben Graham, Wallace Wright, Stacy Tutt, Joe Kowalewski and Mike DeVito.
The 5'7" running back went down after running the ball during 11-11 practice drills. The fan favorite pointed to his knee and was carried off the field by fullback, Tony Richardson and runningback, Thomas Jones. The severity of the leg injury is unkown, and the Jets' policy is not to discuss injuries. Woodhead, received a lot of work during the first three training camp practices on offense and special teams. The Jets are very deep at running back which consists of: Jehuu Caulcrick, Jesse Chatman, Musa Smith, Leon Washington and Thomas Jones. Danny Woodhead could be back with the Jets if he clears waivers.

Pennington Easily Winning QB Battle Over Clemens so Far
As far as the Jets QB battle is concerned, so far it's been a rather lopsided battle to say the least.? Chad Pennington, one of the most fiesty players you'll ever see when it comes to being in a battle, has been better in each and every practice to date.? When it comes to QB match ups, the score right now is Chad 6 - Kellen Clemens 0.
Reports say that Clemens, who it appears...
Pennington Has Early Lead
As the Favre to Jets story has faded, all reports out of camp have Chad Pennington taking the early lead in the quarterback race.
Kellen Clemens has been struggling so far, throwing quite a few picks, which certainly isn't good news. As I've written in previous posts, if Pennington wins the job this team is in trouble. We all know what he can do. He can throw short passes...
Odds and Chad?
Chad Pennington has said it has occurred to him that the deck might be stacked against him in his ongoing battle with Kellen Clemens to be the Jets starter this season.
The theory goes that the Jets would like to see Clemens, 24, beat out the 32-year-old Pennington because of the age difference and to also validate taking Clemens with their second-round draft pick in 2006.

Chad Pennington Well Ahead Of Clemens
New York Jets quarterback Chad Pennington is pitching a shutout through the first four days (six practices) of training camp, and it's looking more and more like the ninth-year pro will be the man behind center for the Jets on opening day in Miami. Pennington has hardly been overwhelming, but Kellen Clemens has been a disappointment.
800 Pound Gorilla Breaks Free at Hofstra! Reeks Havoc on Jets Training Camp, Roars with Southern Drawl
So we've all been thinking about it. We've talked about anything and everything else that we could come up with. We've done our best to ignore it? maybe we poked it with a stick to see if it's still there and indeed it was. It hasn't gone anywhere. The Jets quarterback situation is exactly how we left it at the end of last season.
Lets see if I can sum this...
