Deion says Devin isn't happy with his Bears contract

what i wanna know is: did he say this on the show?? lol!! Hester is a great player, and i guess he's getting in line with the rest of the players crying about there contracts.......

From Devin Hester's mind to Deion Sanders' lips ... or something like that.

Everyone knows the sensational return man has a close friend and confidant in Sanders, and his buddy did the talking for him appearing Tuesday on the NFL Network's "Total Access." Sanders was discussing the slate of games the league will televise, including the Week 15 meeting between New Orleans and Chicago on Thursday, Dec. 11 at Soldier Field.

Come on, the quarterback problems of the Chicago Bears are still there and then they gave away every receiver they had that was halfway decent," Sanders said. "They're looking for tremendous things from this guy, Devin Hester, but Devin Hester isn't happy with his contract and he deserves to be paid amongst the league's best.

"So I look at a myriad of problems for the Chicago Bears and they've got to address those issues now."

There you have it. Add Hester to the expanding list of employees at 1000 Football Drive who are unhappy with their paycheck. Get in line.

Sounds "Legit" to me, The Bears have to realize they are asking Hester to continue to be 99.9% o their big play abilities. He should be paid accordingly, he has far outplayed the current contract and if they don't renegotiate he's going to bounce. They should have re done the contract when the switched him from Cornerback to Wide Receiver last year. Big Mistake on their part.

hester is an amazing player so i'm not real sure why they wouldn't have paid him what he's due
but why is deion doin the talkin for him or was he just talkin to reporters about this?

i knew about the contract dispute: or proposed dispute ,but i'm not real clear as to why deion is doin the talking for him, maybe because they are "friends"

Deion just likes to talk, no matter what the subject....LOL.

hester is off the hook

yeah he is messed up, pay the man his due

ok that didn't come out right
yeah he is off the hook
messsed up, they need to pay the man his due

Clearly Hester has taken advantage of his fan fare. Not that he shouldn't be paid elite money. He is sure doing what he needs well in advance to make certain he gets that money. He has deion helping stir the pot as well.

Damn CK...be careful, you're gonna start a "trade Hester to the Eagles" campaign haha

uuuuuuu looks over shoulder, didn't mean too LOL!!! no way, he'll stay a bear for sure, they will step up & pay him. this is certainly the year for CONTRACT grumblings ;0 !!!

Hester should have been traded already. As good as he is Chicago has so many needs to address and they could have gotten great value for him before this story blew up around here. Same problem with Urlacher. He was upset and commenting discreetly around Chicago late last season. The bears should have shopped them both.

why get rid of him? he's a great player~ all the stories are blowing up this off season, more so then others LOL!

Amazing what a losing season can do to a team. If they would have won and gone to the playoffs, none of this would even be headlines.

dig that fiver, that's a good point!!!

Precisely why you trade him. He has a very limited role on this team as he has had on every other team he played for. He is productive in that role, no question and teams will pay for that talent, but when you best player is involved in 5-9 plays per game, you need help.

because his role is limited-well there's alot of players with limited roles that step up & do for the team where they can. i hope they keep him, he's a great guy to watch play & i hope he paid for his role on the team ;0 !!!

i'm sure if they want to lose him they will, but they really dont' seem to want it to go that way.

Not just because his role is limited. Because he has a high value on the market and that can get you a player who will make a difference in 30 plays a game, and because he will cost you or someone a lot of money for so few snaps per game and the closer you get to the end of his contract the lower his value becomes. Go back a couple of seasons when Philly got rid of Duce. It is the same concept only Hester has a much greater value.

I am not knocking Devin. I just think that his greatest value to the Chicago Bears is on the market. There are a dozen teams that would overpay to get him. If the Bears were a 10-6 team no question you resign him for good money.

i know !! cowboywins08, i know exactly what you are saying!!! god i do miss duce!! lol memories!
anyway, yes i know exaclty what you are saying the cost/effectivness of it all, such excellent points !!!

Hey, I miss Duce and that is saying a lot. I don't know why I liked that guy so much but I may have been the only guy in the country, immediate family excluded, who was hoping to see him get in the endzone in the superbowl against Seattle two years ago...but, alas, it was not meant to be.

LOL duce, duce, duce we used to chant his name. nice last year when he retired that was one kicken 1/2 time!!!

AAAAAAHHHH know what u mean that game :( :( i'm just gonna make sad faces !!!

Where are the Eagles going to hide all of these players? They are going to be about 53 players over the 53 player limit.

yea he will get hiw due..and no they shouldnt have traded him already..that would be nuts...i get what ur saying but not at the expense of a guy like hester...no way...he gives u a fiel position like no other ....he puts u on the 40 almost all the time...now iur gonna need those extra 30 plays to get that field position back...if ther bears get back to there monster "d" then theres gonna be alot more opportunities for hester...now that mush and berrian are gone hesters' gona get a ton of opportunities to develop into an ok receiver...

He couldn't cut it in college as a receiver there is no way he ever becomes more than a gimmick guy. If you listen to his teammates they very carefully said last year that he just doesn't recognize coverages and is constantly running the wrong routes. Now with so many of the key players from that monster D asking for more money it is likely that the owners in chicago will show at least one the door. It just doesn't seem likely in the near future. Field position is a great advantage, but their punter was exhausted by week 5 last season. They need two tackles, a center, a guard, two receivers, a runningback, and a quarterback on offense alone. Trade him while teams will still overpay.

Dallas tried Deion as a receiver back in his day. He actually caught a long pass one time, but he was used mostly as a decoy.

Now, having said all that I did, I really do not want to see Hester in the NFC east unless we are able to acquire him somehow. I don't envy any team that has to face him twice a year, and adding him to the Giants or Eagles wouldn't be pretty. Most return specialists have short lived careers because they eventyally wind up playing somewhere else full time but Hester is the exception there. He will be a killer for several more years.

NICE guys, i couldn't agree more!! the bears have to hang onto him, he's not rumbling about leaving just MORE $$$$$. that seems to be the newest & latest craze this off season, or maybe i'm just more aware of it? odd huh!!

Yeah.......keep him in Chicago. We don't need him in Philly. We have Pacman coming, so we'll be fine...LOL.

I'm waiting for someone to say: Hester to Eagles

i just NOW saw this, sorry my bad, i ain't sayin snizzit doll!!! i actually don't think anyone on this thread will either ;0 !!!!!

first off i think he has every right to be upset he shoul be getting paid he is that offense and he is that special teams and the man can play some corner 2 hes nasty he deserves Deion type mone 35 mill for 7 years and theyd be foolish not to give it to him. and second CK i miss ur eagle blogs lady u were the best but good stuff as always post some more and if any one talks trash ill show him (or her) my STRONG HAND..LOL

well hello cowboykilla, how you been? i'm sorry you miss my eagles blogs, and thank YOU SO MUCH for the support, it is appreciated more then you know.

Deion money?!! Are you nuts? He isn't even a starter. In fact they took him off the corner position and moved him to one he couldn't hack in college either. His only value is a return man or a decoy and the decoy doesn't work too often when that is all they do with you. He should be paid well AFTER he completes his contract. If Ted Phillips decides he want to pay more now great for Hester. Until then forget it. This is no surprise. He is a Chicago Bear. When have they ever paid what was owed?

Jerry mortgaged the whole future of the team between 1996 and now mainly because of Deion's contract. We are just now recovering from that in the last two years. Don't need another one. Completes his contract is a statement that does not have much power in the NFL anymore.

Devin has unparalleled talent and the Bears don't have much of a choice other than pay him what he is due. It would be foolish to let the best return man in football, and arguably ever, go to another team in his prime.
