Despite Derek Anderson's terrible performance in yesterday's meaningless Pro Bowl, there is buzz that he may be headed to Miami for the #1 overall selection. Does anyone think that Anderson's agent is wishing he would have steered clear of Honolulu the same way many prospects steer clear of the NFL Combine? If you perform well in the Pro Bowl, you've got nothing to gain because no one plays defense. The game sucks like that. But if you perform poorly... you get my point. The only reason this trade would even be considered is because this year's crop of QBs is pretty average on the whole. There is no must-have guy, and Matt Ryan's name emerges above the others only because analysts, scouts and managements feel the need to latch on to someone as the best of the best. Truth is, any number of guys could be the best QB in this year's draft. Why waste a top pick on a gamble? Or on Derek Anderson for that matter? Cleveland, if Miami wants to give you the #1 pick for Derek Anderson, I have three words for you: PULL THE TRIGGER.

  • i dont think he is worth it either but for the browns if the dolphins would do this would be a steal because they could draft another stud ol to protect quinn. i dont think he is worth it and i dont think the dolphins do this simply because they just drafted John Beck and yeah i know Parcels didnt draft him but he has looked pretty good from what i have heard n seen. i think the browns would have to send braylon edwards n anderson to have a shot at that#1 pick
  • The Browns would be crazy to use a #1 overall draft on the OL. The line currently in place is one of the best in the league, and although they could use someone else at right guard they are in dire need of help on the DL. As a huge Browns fan I believe Dorsey would be the only option here, especially with free agent Faneca on the market, who we all know is getting old but is still a monster, and can solidify the line. As far as sending Anderson and Edwards for a #1 pick, they would have to be insane...I do agree I don't think it will happen, but I will be praying every night that it does, lets face it, it wouldn't be the dumbest draft move the fins have made...teddy ginn (I love him but that was a ridicules pick)
  • Tim Couch and Courtney Brown... as a Cleveland Browns fan I do not want that #1 pick. Although Darren McFadden does seem like a really nice complement to Jamal Lewis...
  • Buy him a ticket to Miami now! Cleveland has it's QB of the future sitting on the bench and Anderson has no touch with the ball whatsoever. Braylon, J2 and Winslow made him look great all year. I'm a die hard Cleveland fan, hell I went to a game for my honeymoon and I say good bye, good bye, good bye.
  • I'm not sure where you get your crack, but you may want to seriously consider laying off that stuff -- Micheal Irvin says it's kind of bad for you, but can get you through a few Super Bowl games okay.

Anderson's a talented QB - but there are literally less than 5 QB's that any rational GM would trade the #1 overall pick for -- P. Manning, T. Brady, C. Palmer, and that's really about it. If the Dolphins would be dumb enough to do this, whoever is the "factor" in deciding this, should be publically caned for their stupidity.
  • Does anyone think that Anderson's agent is wishing he would have steered clear of Honolulu the same way many prospects steer clear of the NFL Combine?

Or the way Roger_Dorn steers clear of anything French Stewart is in.
  • What? You don't like squint faces?

  • it might be best for Miami who knows
  • No way this will happen - anderson for a #1 pick? The Dolphins would be better off drafting Ryan from BC. I do think that the Dolphins will trade this pick..makes more sense then drafting dorsey. Trade down withsomeone and get more picks is what Parcells will do. Now if the Dolphins trade with another team and have a #18 pick or something like that then I could see them going after Anderson.

  • This would be a stupid move. They could easily get DA for their second rounder and one other low round pick, or a 2nd or 3rd rounder next year. If they don't want Dorsey there are plenty of teams who would trade them for a mid 1st round plus 3rd round pick or something similar.
In the Dolphins want DA, they can get him for a lot less than the #1 pick.

  • DEREK ANDERSON WON'T GET TRADED. JAMAL WILL GET THE FRANCHISE TAG, AND THE BROWNS WILL HIT THE FREE AGENT MARKET WITH AN EARLY SMASH HIT. LOOK FOR US TO GET ASANTE SAMUEL OR LANCE BRIGGS. THOUGH I THINK CLEANING UP THE FRONT SEVEN IS A MUST, WITH THE SCHEDULE WE HAVE NEXT YEAR WE WILL NEED A BETTER SHUT DOWN CORNER OPPOSITE ERIC WRIGHT, BECAUSE BODDEN JUST WON'T CUT IT AGAINST CHAD, TO, AND REG WAYNE.
  • OH YEAH NO NEED FOR ANY OFFENSIVE PLAYERS. NEXT YEAR WE WILL DRAFT A GOOD NUMBER TWO RECEIVER AND SOMEHOW FIND A RUNNING BACK.
  • we don't want deke...

Falcons' Blank Sends Vick, Fans Clear Message

The signing of Matt Ryan to a long-term, high guaranteed money deal sends a clear message to Michael Vick and the NFL's largest black ticket base: Vick's not coming back as a QB under any circumstances.

Vikings Tried To Trade For Browns QB Brady Quinn

Word is the Vikings offered the Browns their 2009 and 2010 first-round draft picks for quarterback Brady Quinn, but Cleveland, after consideration, said no thanks. Economically, the deal makes sense for the Vikings in that Quinn, who is under contract for three more years after this season, already has been paid his signing bonus. With the trading deadline recently passed, the deal...

This mock draft has superhero Sedrick Ellis dropping all the way to #9 (Bengals). Defensive end Chris Long is #1 overall and Boston College's Matt Ryan is the first QB taken. Dissect and enjoy.

Derek Anderson headed for purple pastures?

"Things are apparently not going well as the Browns attempt to sign Derek Anderson to a long-term deal. According to reports, Anderson recently turned down a 3-year offer worth $16 million. The QB is looking for a five-year deal, which is longer than the Browns really want to go." I'd love to see Derek Anderson stay in Cleveland, but a five-year deal is too long...

Derek Anderson saved the season for the Cleveland Browns

Things were not looking good for the Browns after the season opener against the Steelers (34-7) so the Browns made a drastic move as they traded Charlie Frye and inserted Derek Anderson.  All Anderson did was compile a 10-5 record as a starter and he was named as a alternate in the Pro Bowl.  Ander...

Brady's on the back burner

Today QB Derek Anderson re-upped with the Browns after agreeing to terms on a multiple-year contract, which means Browns QB Brady Quinn will have to wait at least another year to get a shot as an NFL starter. Unless a trade is in the works. Cleveland doesn't have a selection in either the first or second rounds of this April's NFL Draft. They traded the second-rounder...

QB Crowding in Cleveland

Phil Savage says Derek Anderson isn't going anywhere...neither is Brady Quinn. We can still expect trade speculation.

Mel Kiper's Big Board

Once a week we will be taking a look at Mel Kiper's big board. Here is what it looks like this week: Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU (6-2,292) Jake Long, OT, Michigan (6-6, 320) Chris Long, DE, Virginia Tech (6-4, 282) Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College (6-4, 223) Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC (6-1, 297) Kentwan B...

Dolphins talking contract with Jake Long's agent

The Miami Herald is reporting that the Miami Dolphins are in contract negotiations with Tom Condon, the agent for Michigan OT Jake Long, about the prospect of taking his client with the #1 overall pick in the upcoming draft. Condon, who is also the agent for Boston College QB, Matt Ryan was in Miami negotiating on behalf of Long and not Ryan according to the Herald's sources.

Day 1 Propsect Breakdown: Quarterbacks.

Last year? I made a listing of the day one prospects and broke them down with my opinions. And of course I was right about Matt Forte. I was wrong about Matt Ryan, but hey. At least I'm man enough to admit it when I miss. And we will start it how we started it last year. With the quarterbacks. ...

First Quarter Sees Anderson, Pool Cribbs Injured vs NYG

It was a tough first quarter to say the least for the Browns in their preseason debacle vs the Giants at the Meadowlands.  First, they were trailing 30-3, but that was the least of their issues.  First QB Derek Anderson left the game with a possible concussion when he was slammed by Osi Umenyiora.  He [...]

Blog Down Breakdown: CHI 20 ATL 22

At the risk of sounding ungrateful, Kyle Orton's AMAZING touchdown throw to Rashied Davis just ruined this entire post. I guess it doesn't pay to start writing before the game is over, huh? Short of drawing on manly stubble with a marker, outfitting him in Wrangler jeans, and teaching him how to speak with an oh-so-gentle southern draw, the Bears couldn't have made...
