I’m already sick of it. The 2009 season hasn’t even started and the questions about the Chicago Bears wide receiver position appear endless. It doesn’t matter where you turn - the radio, TV, newspapers, magazines, Twitter - everyone is quick to remind Bears fans that the Bears have no chance this season because they don’t have any wide receivers for new QB Jay Cutler to throw to. The latest to chime in was Donald Driver, wide receiver for the hated Packers, while on ESPN 1000 Chicago with Waddle and Silvy: “They don’t have a receiver,” Driver said on the “Waddle & Silvy” show on ESPN 1000. “They don’t have any true receivers that step up and play and take their team to where they want to go. “I love Devin, and Devin knows that, but Devin plays [defensive back]. I don’t think he’s just a solid receiver right now. He may become one as years go on, but it doesn’t happen overnight.” Donald Driver should expect a whole bunch of this on September 13th I don’t understand Donald’s motivation here.  Is it to add some fire to Devin Hester’sbelly?  Is it to provide some bulletin board material for the Bears wide receiver meeting room?   Maybe he’s lobbying to get out of Green Bay and offering his services here.  Either way, I would like to remind Mr. Driver that on September 13th, you will likely be going across the middle on a slant or crossing route.  Just remember to keep your head on a swivel!  I am sure the Urlacher and Ogunleye will be looking for #80!   Follow me on Twitter at http://twitter.com/BearGogglesOn. Lester Wiltfong is on staff at Windy City Gridiron and he's the featured Bears blogger for The Sporting News. Chicago Bears 2008 Recap: Last year the Bears were a Kyle Orton injury away from being in the playoffs. You can call that statement wishful thinking, or me being a homer, but you can't deny the way Orton played before his injury (he was starting to come into his own...

Bears Owner Angelo Likes What He’s Seen from Urlacher This Offseason

If the Bears are going to take a step forward in the NFC North this year, they need top-notch play from their defensive leader - MLB Brian Urlacher. Chicago Bears: I'm Not the Only One Who Thinks the WR Unit Is Atrocious

I recently wrote an article titled "Why Jay Cutler Will Fall Flat On His Face In Chicago", and got blasted by many sensitive Bears fans for thinking I called out their precious "franchise" QB, and ripping on their underwhelming WR's. To put it in perspective, the Bears No. 1 WR is Devin Hester, a former CB. That should sum up the state of the Bears...

Top Five Breakout Bears

Any discussion of the 2009 Chicago Bears will invariably revolve around Jay Cutler and his sub-prime receiving corps. Considering that the Bears last franchise QB was born during the Woodrow Wilson administration, the hype surrounded Cutler is at the very least understandable. Still, if Chicago fans want to see their boys back in the playoffs, they’ll have to rely on major contributions...

Bears' offensive line shaping up

The Bears are reshaping their offensive line again this season, adding veteran Orlando Pace at left tackle and getting back from injury 2008 top pick Chris Williams at right tackle. With 11 days to camp, Brad Biggs analyzes the Bears' offensive line.

Iffy offensive line counting on Pace, Williams

Getting back to our position-by-position breakdowns as we move closer to the first practice at Olivet Nazarene, we move to the offensive line. The skinny: The Bears are reshaping their offensive line for the second consecutive year after using the same five for the three previous seasons. They're set to open with their third left tackle, Orlando Pace, and third right tackle, Chris...

Grant receives a pardon

Ryan Grant nearly faded into history as a footnote in Green Bay Packers lore:

Packers Training Camp: Is Nelson Vs. Jones A Win-Win For Green Bay?

The Green Bay Packers, and many of their fans, will enter preseason with a myriad of questions, most of which will need time to answer. Will the transition to 3-4 be a success? Will Rodgers’ sophomore year be a good, if not better, compared to his rookie campaign? Will the Pack take the division, or have to battle for a Wild Card spot? These and many other questions are...
