This is started to get to me now, it seems all my favorites on the team are having issues with the front office. Chemistry is important, hopefully come Sept, none of this will matter.
This s*** is getting ridiculous... These guys jumped at the occasion to sign these contracts when they were put on the table... Now that they believe they are out performing them they want to cry they want more money. Play out your contract and then look for a new deal.
Especially Andrews, this is his rookie contract were talkin about, it pays him plenty. He does deserve more, but he should play it out, and we'll be happy to re-sign him then.
If it were the other way around........say for instance they sucked after signing there contract, they would still get there money. This is turning into a nightmare!
Eskin reported that Shawn Andrews will not report to camp tonight "for personal reasons" and that the reasons are unacceptable to the Eagles. Here come the fines.................
wow these players are pathetic they shouldve known that they had a big possibility of getting better so they shouldve signed only a 2 or 3year deal then look for a new offer but instead they sign ridiculous 5-7 year deals!!! unbelievable
MAN THE BIG KID IS NOT HOLDING OUT.... Just read article on PE.COM....Personal reasons is why....and he should not want to sit out tooo long....because MJG is almost ready to go.....the big kid acts like he has a superbowl ring or something LOL LOL....
The players are taking the game hostage. It's not like these guys were tricked into signing bad contracts. They paid big money to big agents to get the best deal possible. Trying to remake that deal a year or two or even three years later is a breach of contract. In the real world, when you breach a contract, you get sued. In football, you get paid.
As much as I hate to be the team to draw a line in the sand, this kind of thought process is poisoning teams and the game as a whole. The more teams give into this kind of conduct, the more players see it as a viable option. Here's a better idea for players: negotiate better deals or walk when you're contract expires. Can't hammer something out that is to your permanent satisfaction, go find a team who'll make it happen. I've had it with this stuff.
That said, are there times where exceptional circustmances justify bending the rules? Sure. Devin Hester should not play another season at $400k. Should B West play for $5 million...closer question.
"I've come to play football," Westbrook said. "When I get out on the football field, I come to do my job. I hired an agent, so I'm going to let him address off-the-field issues. I feel very comfortable with him. I think he's a competent agent who can get the deal done, and I'm sure that he will."
Theres your elaboration. Gotta think that helps his case, holding out would have severely hurt it.
Somewhere along the line these guys lost focus on the game. Or maybe we as a public have put so much emphasis on how we can't live without the game. So many of us would love to be in their position right now. Making millions playing a game you played your whole life. Everybody loving you for that little bit of joy you bring to them every time you take the field. How many of us would love to play football for $50,000 a year. Sh#t I would. Somewhere these guys stopped playing for the love and started playing for the money. If you love it, then you are going to succeed at it and the money will come. If you are good enough the money will come. So be a man, finish out ,(or at least play a down), in your newly acquired contract and then you might have a leg to stand on. But as of you now, you sound like a whining a#$ baby who realized he should have held his cards a little longer when it was the opportune time to do so.
well the players have seen them go to new teams with a new deal when they pull this stunt so now they are all going to do it but sorry but finish the deal you signed the team took a risk drafting these players so the players should return the favor by finishing their rookie contract and Andrews was not there for personnel reason is he doesnt want to play for us do a sign and trade and give the money to westbrook and lito. Not that i want to lose the big kid but some team in the league would give up a couple of first rounders for him.
i agree mitressehc and really whats the diffrence between 10 mil and 20 mil if you dont manage it right you will end up broke anyways and if you manage it right and invest you can turn 10mil in pay into more than 20 mil.
trade andrews really, what is going on in your head, the man is not at camp for personal reasons, again personal reasons, not contract issues. look im from philly hopefully like everyone else that is posting on this site and lets not make this a huge issue, please lets drop it and focus on real issues. T
Dudes..."personal reasons" is a BS coverup for contract reasons. It's pretty transparant. That's why it's not excused, meaning the Eagles will be fining Andrews for every day he's not there.
Wow, the Big Kid doesn't show up to camp and now the solution is to trade him? Come on guy, he's pretty much our best linemen, just ask B-West. #36 had a great season due to the Big Kid. If you watched any of the games last year, about 95% of B-West runs went through Andrews side. The team will fine him, but trade talks...IS OUT OF THE QUESTION.
Ha, NO WAY The eagles are gonna trade Andrews. Maybe Andrews went on a Big Eating spree and is embarassed about how fat he got. Can't be a family issue or they would excuse him. Maybe he is in jail in Mexico and can't get out. Maybe he had some plastic surgery in the offseason and stilll needs some time to recover. Maybe he went to Hawii for the Probowl and decided he doesn't want to come back to the mainland. Wait I know He went the Jason Taylor Route and is on some Reality show. ....well whatever it is I am sure the Eagles will Keep their mouth shut and make us agonize about what it could be. How the Heck has ESPN or some New Channel Not figured out where he is and reported on this yet?????
