Eagles Kicking situation?

Okay so let me start by saying I am pretty damn excited about this upcoming Eagles season. There's one issue that actually concerns me a bit, maybe more than getting a #1 receiver because personally I don't think we really, really need one. Now David Akers has been a terrific K for the Eagles for many years and I'm not throwing him under the bus. Buuuut he has shown some decline the last few years. Granted in the last 3 years he is perfect on XP. But as far as FG he hasn't kicked above 80% since the 2004 season. 2004 he was 84.4% on FG. Since then for 05', 06' and 07' he has kicked a mediocre 72.7, 78.3 and 75.0 respectively. His long kick of 07' was a respectable 53 yards, with a 47 and a 50 the two years prior. I don't want to jump to any conclusions but I do feel like Akers has lost alot of his 'elite' Kicker status. And while K is not an exciting position it is important nonetheless. Thoughts?

I agree completely. In addition to the FGs, his kickoffs haven't been as effective.

I love Akers, but I have the same concern. None of his kick-offs have been deep enough to force a touch back. And that 57 yarder he missed to tie the giants... Well, I just think the 04 Akers would have made that. But, he did have a new LS and a new holder, so maybe this year he's back to the old Akers.

I'm glad someone brought this up.Akers was disappointing at best last year.Another season of missing 30 yarders and it's time to say goodbye.
