Eric Johnson on the Trading Block?

Here's an analysis of some of the recent trade rumors concerning hte San Francisco 49ers and TE Eric Johnson, including rumors for Deion Branch or Nathan Vasher.

I'm a bit torn. I love the idea of either of these guys coming to the Niners, they'll provide depth and improvement talent-wise to two of the Niners' weaker positions. The problem is parting with Eric Johnson, who is still one of the most talented members of the Niners' offense. The prospect of watching rookie Vernon Davis improve and then lineup with Johnson as a second TE or with Davis in the slot as a receiver is too appealing to me.

EJ's the forgotten 49ers offensive player. Fantasy owners are buying into the hype of Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, and Antonio Bryant. But in many leagues Eric Johnson, the one proven offensive star, has gone undrafted. Keeping a close eye on him could end up paying big dividends.
