Falcons Flying In Smoke!
Falcon's DB, Jimmy Williams is facing a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge. He was scheduled to appear in court on July 16, but it is now postponed until December 3.
So, not only are the Falcons stressing about Vick and his dog-fighting accusations, but they also have to worry about Williams and his "I wanna be in the spotlight too" incident. You would think the Falcons players would learn after Vick's Miami airport incident. No, they probably just learned "if" you get caught with any illegal drug, all you have to do is simply pay a meaningless fine of $10,000 and it'll all be over with. And to earn the respect of the public, all you have to do is donate another $10,000 to charity and then finally everything will be peachy. And that's the problem in sports today; managers are not even considering serious punishment for these criminal acts. More and more players are beginning to realize their invincibility with the law, all thanks to general managers and great sports lawyers! Thanks guys! For all of you who don't know Jimmy Williams, he was the Falcons' highest-selected player last season in the 2006 NFL Draft. Towards the end of last season, the Falcons finally realized they desperately needed an upgrade in their pass defense if they wanted to continue in the wild card race. After reviewing all the potential players, they decided to go with rookie Jimmy Williams. The only reason why he was drafted in the second round was because of his poor performance during his senior year at VT (in the year before, he did great). Now, they did end up loosing in the race, but the Falcons decided to keep Williams in the starting position for the remainder of the season. This season, he is still listed as a starter, so obviously Williams is doing something right. My question is, if you have everything going for you, why would you every put yourself in a situation where it can be easily jeopardized. Oh yeah, I forgot about his invincibility cloak. My guess is, his charges are going to be dropped and he will continue to start at Free Safety. Just make sure you have $20,000 by December Jimmy! 6 Comments On: "Falcons Flying In Smoke!"
