The year of grossly over-paying free agents has continued. The New York Jets today signed offensive guard Alan Faneca away from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Faneca will receive $40 million over 5 years, with $21 million of it guaranteed. The Jets were originally seeking only four years, but added a fifth to make sure there no snags in getting this done. My guess Faneca is gone after three, as he is already 32 years old.

According to JetsCentral, WFAN has reported that Gang Green's offer is a 4-year, $32 million contract with $20 million in guarantees.

In the deal, the Jets receive Jenkins while the Panthers get 3rd and 5th round picks in this years NFL Draft. I would think the Jets would look to rework Jenkins contract. Now to this deal, I think its stupid I really do!!! ....
