After a high-scoring week six, good matchups abound in week seven. Who’s gonna score big this week? And conversely, who should you avoid? Read my week seven start/sits after the break to help you find out.
Start: Eli Manning, QB, Giants: Manning faces a porous Arizona pass defense that has given up the fifth most fantasy points to opponent QBs. Though the same defense highly limited Matt Hasselbeck last week, look for the New York O-line to buy Manning more time than the makeshift Seattle line.
Sit: Donavan McNabb, QB, Eagles: McNabb is coming off a poor performance against Oakland. This week won’t get any easier (yes, there are better defenses than Oakland) as he faces a surprisingly tough Redskins’ secondary that has given up the fourth-least fantasy points to opposing QBs.
Sit: Brett Favre, QB, Vikings: Favre has a tough matchup against Pittsburg on the road. To make matters worse, Troy Polamalu returns from injury this week. Stay away.
Start: LaDanian Tomlinson, RB, Chargers: After finally looking like his former self in a 100 yard performance last week, Tomlinson will look to have a breakout game week seven. He faces the 25th worst run defense in Kansas City, whom he has a history of running all over. Tomlinson is a must start here.
Start: Laurence Maroney, RB, Patriots: Maroney tallied over 160 rushing yards in the Pats’ utter destruction of Buffalo last week. Look for him to get similar numbers against an equally horrendous Bucs defense.
Sit: Pierre Thomas, RB, Saints: Too many factors stand against Thomas this week. He faces the hard-nosed Dolphins defense who have limited opposing RBs to the 7th least amount of fantasy points. Furthermore, he has Mike Bell poaching goal line carries. You may have no better option than Thomas, but if you can avoid him, do.
Start: Donald Driver, WR, Packers: Take a terrible Browns defense and add the flu. Throw Donald Driver in the mix, and you have a lot of fantasy points. Look for all Packers to do well, but the hot hand of Donald Driver is a must-start here.
Start: Anquan Boldin, Cardinals: Lots of people like Steve Breston this week, under the impression that Boldin will be out. However, Arizona’s official site reported he will probably play Sunday. The Cards will have to throw in order to beat New York, and should find some success. Don’t be afraid to start Boldin.
Sit: Braylon Edwards, WR, Jets: Edwards faces Nnamdi Asomugha on the road. Additionally, his fate is in the hands of Mark Sanchez. Avoid Edwards this week.
Start: Greg Olsen, TE, Bears: Olson has slowly been re-emerging as a top target in the Bears passing game. In addition, the Bengals have given up TDs to TEs three straight week.
