So this is a game that is always competitive and this year had more hype than most preseason games in recent memory. After further review of the game, I have the following observations.
Mark Sanchez is a gamer. He reminds me of Pennington with a stronger arm. He has that same moxy and is savvy enough to make things happen when all looks lost. To see him scamble and heave it up for Stuckey gave me flashbacks to the days of Chad to Moss and Coles with Curtis out of the backfield. Then to see him run down and be the second man to congratulate Stuckey was the type of energy and support you want to see from a teammate.
Vernon Gholston will be put in a situation to succeed. He is still second guessing a bit on the field, but after watching him absolutely crush David Carr and get a BS flag for helmet to helmet, I know that D-Rex will put him in more packages where he is in a 3 point stance and expected to rush the QB. That is his strength and Ryan will use it. With Calvin Pace being out the first four, I expect Gholston to get a chance to make a big impact early. Once Pace is back, this team's defense will be scary.
Our receiving core is not as bad as people think. At least they actually make the catch. The Giants receivers were dropping balls left and right. They also have no true, number one or two receiver. At least with Jerricho Cotchery, we have a number two who can play like a number one with the right burner opposite him to stretch the defense a bit. I want to see more out of Clowney this week against the Eagles.
The play of Lito Sheppard will be key this year. He was picked on all game as Manning has done often throughout his career. If he struggles, I expect to see more playing time for Dwight Lowery who has impressed coaches and even other players with his play this year thus far.
The team looked good overall aside from a major problem with penalties. Let's hope that Ryan's more lax style of coaching will not allow that to carry over into the season.

Ryan tabs Stuckey as No. 2 WR -- sort of
After a month of training camp and three preseason games, the New York Jets still aren't thrilled with their receiver situation.
Jets coach Rex Ryan on Monday said the No. 2 receiver role is "a position that's going to be by committee," but added Chansi Stuckey will be "the guy you throw out there first." Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
