i like the guy, but alot of others don't!! solid write up on him though, thanks!!!

This guy is going to be very good... Just think, 6'6(Derek Anderson).... I think he is going to do good things in Baltimore...

thanks theone&only, i was beginning to think i was the only one that liked him LOL!

Nope! lol

Im a fan of most 6'6 quarterbacks... Russell is going to be good to I believe. Can you think of many bad 6'6 qbs???

i'll chime in, . flacco is gonna do good things people have to wait and see
russell is lookin good also

yeah i agree all around!!!

sorry to be debbie downer here, but i don't think that he will be anything special! everyone is sold on his arm power, but if your 6'6 then you should be able to throw further then the rest... his accuraccy is very questonable and he doesn't look comfortable in the pocket imo! he has alot of upside, but to say that in 2 years he will be really good is a strech imo. could he yes but i wouldn't bet on it... he is a very risky pick at 18, but i hope the kid does great and proves me wrong!

I'm also on the negative side of this equation.

A) I would rather have Flacco sit on the sidelines for awhile as opposed to rushing him to win the QB battle this season.
B) I think there ARE high expectations on his shoulders because he is a first round pick and because his stock inflated so much coming into the draft (similar to Boller).
C) I don't think Raven's fans have patience - they see the defense getting older and the Super Bowl players retiring. I think they will expect him to perform at least this season and perhaps take the team we have to the playoffs.
C)

Seeing Flacco play on a highlight reel and actually seeing him play in person are two very different things. I was lucky enough (or perhaps intelligent enough) to be a Blue Hen this year and didn't miss a single home game and tried to catch as many away games as I could.

Flacco is big. Real big. Like I walked by him on campus and was like, "Man, this kid is enormous." Additionally, he's quick, strong, and intelligent (he's a Civil Engineer major even). He deserved to get drafted as high as he did because he does have all the talent people claim he has. He's a better quarterback than any of the quarterback he was picked in front of, and, in time, will prove himself to be the best quarterback drafted in the 2008 class (yes, he's going to be better than Matt Ryan. Trust me).

Granted, I'm biased I'm sure. I got to the University of Delaware, I was born in Baltimore, and I'm a huge Ravens fan (so this really couldn't have worked out any better for me), but he really does have the potential to be the Ravens' answer at quarterback.

I'd rather not see him start more than 2 or 3 games this season (to keep him from being a Kyler Boller) but if they let him develop into the quarterback he is perfectly capable of being, there's no reason why he couldn't become the face of the Ravens franchise.

better then matty :( uh, i dunno - i'm very partial to matty lol!!! that's great reply!!! here's a vid of him talking about being drafted & his familia celebrating, enjoy !!!!

Yeah I def think he'll be better than Matt Ryan. Just look at the guy's haircut.

Matt Ryan is going to be a bust... 19 picks against college CB's??? does that mean 38 against pro CB's??? lol

hush LOL! hehe!! i dunno, i like him !!!!

It all depends on how they adjust to the NFL. Maybe Matt Ryan faced better competition than Joe Flacco did (but in reality, that's debatable itself. There are good defenses in both the FCS and the FBS) and maybe he didn't. The thing I don't think anyone is going to argue that the level of competition in the NFL is better than the FCS and the FBS.

The differences between the FCS and the FBS is negligible when you consider the differences between college and professional football. It doesn't matter where you came from, because you're going (or at least trying to go) to the same place: the NFL.

That's the only thing that matters. They'll face much better competition. However the respond to that higher level of competition will determine how well they will ultimately play in the NFL.
