The Vikings are not believed to be among the half-dozen teams that have contacted former Jets QB Chad Pennington, who was cut by New York when they acquired Brett Favre.? I get the whole argument that Pennington's been hurt and his arm is no good, and if you're going to go downfield more you're probably better off with Gus Frerotte who can still chuck it?but there are intangibles involved too and I think Pennington has more of them going for him than Frerotte or Tarvaris Jackson.? He seems like the feisty leader-type to me - maybe I'm way off about that, but I don't think I am - and I believe that's what this team really needs more than just some guy who's physically gifted.? They need someone to be the heart and soul of the offense and I believe Pennington could've been that guy.? But we'll never find out because they don't want him.
