Free agency and NFL gossip

I'm on my way back from Cabo from a business seminar. It was crazy and I learned a lot about how money works. I also learned a lot about being 26 and in a spring break environment. I was sitting in club after club watching these lil kids go crazy, and thinking back 2 when I used 2 go crazy like that. Those were the good days.

On a side note, there were a lot of good pickups around the league, and a lot of money being tossed around. Free agency is a great thing because when you're one of the premier players in the league teams have 2 pay a premium for you. They hate it but it is what it is. Some players get overpaid, some players get underpaid. At the end of the day, it's all about what your peers think of you. The money is great but the respect of you peers will last a lot longer than your money because you never know what can happen.

Seeing all the NFL gossip in the news has me eagerly awaiting the offseason workout because then I know that the season is getting a lil closer. That's all I have for you guys. Feel free to ask me some questions. I'm in town for a few days so ill be able answer. God bless and vote Obama in '08.

Free agency is a crazy time considering how the NFL is a copy cat league. All the defensive lineman got payed after the Giants showed how important it was to be strong at that position in the Super Bowl. How do you feel about Drayton Florence going to the Jaguars? I think he could be a good fit.

I would take a strong d over a secondary any day of the week because if the qb can't through the ball they have no chance. The dline starts with stopping the run 1st. Getting to the qb is the fun part its all speed and quickness. As for drayton he will b a great fit in jville he's a tuff guy and a play maker that's the type of team that they are. He also is a hard worker a deserves to get paid, now he is back in his home state and not in anyones shadow he will be able to blossom and come into his own as an elite corner in the league.

Wassup Shaun.. U need to come back to Willingboro and give these kids a talk.. They won zero games last year.. Willingboro going down the drain.. Track team even doin pretty bad..

I will b back in willingboro next week I'm doing a camp this summer to let kids know that its not about how much talent you have its about how much heart you have and people need to realize that.

What's good Shaun? Go Broncos!

Whats up Shaun! What kind of workouts are you doing during the offseason? Do you have something top secret you do like LT? Are you and Lights training together? Keep up the hard work...we're goin to the 'ship!

I don't do anything special during the off season except try to strengthen the areas that I feel I'm weak in.

Well I am glad you focusing on your money, There are just to many sad stories retired players broke just couple years after leaving the league. Don't be penny pincher, but get those investments started.

A great man said ,

Discipline weights ounces, and Regret weighs tons.

Hello Mr. Phillops. I was wondering for next season, what's your personal goal your trying to achieve besides winning the super bowl? Watching you play and knock people's head off is great, btw.

It's too far away to start setting season goals. As of now I'm focusing on my of season goals on what I wanna get accomplished on and off the field. If I start focusing on the season now ill go crazy in anticipation. I do get excited every time I think about football tho lol. Thanks for the support and ill bring you charger fans a ring this year

How do you think Philly's gonna do? Do you think we'll get a #1 receiver? Who do you think it will be?

Hate to put you on the spot...but is Mike Vick ever gonna take the field again in the NFL? And if so, what team is gonna take a chance on him?

I know it's a sensitive subject, but do you think Mike Vick will ever take the field again in the NFL? If so, what team will take their chances with him?...don't wanna put you on the spot, so feel free not to answer if you don't want to.

I recently met and got a chance to chat with retired player Dicky Maegle. After listening to him , talk about the conditions and medical problems he and his comrades have had to deal with. I don't think a player can ever be over paid. In the grand scheme of things, if they are willing to spend the money. They got it to spend. Your services are worth what they are willing to pay you for it, NOW. So, get it when you can. Because they won't compensate you later for laying the ground work.

Hey Whats up Shaun i have been a huge fan ever since you played at purdue. My whole family has been purdue fans our whole lives and i have been to every game since the first alamo bowl. I still have a sweat band you tossed to me after you guys won at Wake Forest. i got to skip school to go. I was just wondering if you ever follow Purdue any and if you visit or talk to coach Tiller. I always follow Purdue players in the NFL and even though you guys always beat up my COLTS!! i love watching you play and i always knew you would be so good because of your speed and how ferocious you are. Keep the sacks coming.

SP quote: "At the end of the day, it's all about what your peers think of you..... the respect of you peers will last a lot longer than your money because you never know what can happen."

Shaun, you are no longer 'the other guy", you are SP '95 of Chargers and gain a lot of respect around the league. Keep up what you are doing and stay focus. People are now talking about you and lightsout.

I'm so glad that you put your hard earned money into your future investment. You still have family to support after all.

Just quick question, do you have any nick name that you prefer to call?

Thanks

I know that this may be way off but I seen how you said how you used to be crazy and doing things.. you referred to it as if it were your past. What has got you to become a more mature person at this point in your life? Your birthday is just a few weeks away is it the fact that You are getting older? Or has someone made you wanna change that part of you?

Shaun!!!!! man I don't know if you remember me but I'm that little white kid (alpha dog) that partied with you and Coop and Eric Green in Cabo... thanks for teaching me how to dance by the way haha it's cool if you don't remember but let me know if you do. My e-mail is dppolley@yahoo.com message me sometime if you want. good luck next season
