It's supposed to be about the students. It's supposed to be about the tradition. It's supposed to be about learning life lessons through athletics, and the greater good of the team. Yet, every year around this time the NCAA strips us from enjoying all of that and instead teaches our kids about how the real world works. It's all about the money. The University of Hawaii ended their 2007-08 season with a perfect 12-0 record. They played twelve division 1 teams and beat them all this year. The poor kids at Hawaii did everything they had to this year and still receive no consideration. Just what lessons are we teaching them? Still I sit on December 3rd wondering just how college football's BCS is any good for the sport. They have determined that the NFL's 33rd team, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and the NFL's 34th team, The LSU Tigers, will play for the 2008 National Championship. So the lesson is this, since LSU was preseason #2 and Hawaii was preseason #23, your are allowed to lose twice and still play for a ring in January. I think? To begin with LSU has TWO losses! One of which was against the SEC's "powerhouse program" the Kentucky Wildcats (7-5). The other loss was only two weeks ago! It came against the unranked Arkansas Razorbacks (8-4). I fail to see the logic of choosing them over the nine other top 25 teams with only one loss. Kansas for instance has only one loss, and it came against a top 10 team in Missouri. Wouldn't that even be a better choice than LSU? I know, I know, the BCS goes by the team's conference place finish and the super computer. However, time after time it's just not the right team. Yes, LSU has many more NFL prospects and blue chip recruits than Hawaii or Kansas. Yes, LSU played a tougher schedule in a tougher conference. I understand all of that; it's just that my disdain for the system grows so much larger with each passing year of controversy. When a good, hard working, and undefeated team like Hawaii gets no chance at winning a National Championship simply because of their location on the globe, it makes me want to vomit. Didn't we learn anything from last years Boise State win over Oklahoma? Why does the NCAA turn their attention to the schools that will make them the most money? Haven't we seen LSU lose in the National TV games enough this year? I would love to see Hawaii have a chance at completing a dream season after the holiday break. Wouldn't that be good TV to see them battle Ohio State on the big stage? Doesn't everybody love an underdog? Thank you college football. Thank you for showing our young students that as long as you know people in a bigger circle, it doesn't matter how successful or unsuccessful you are as long as the Bowl game is played in your home state and you can draw the most paying customers. So much for watching an undefeated team play, we can simply beat them by ignoring their record and letting the college "experts" decide. Congratulations June Jones and Hawaii Football. You earned the Championship in my eyes this year!

Couldnt have said it any better.....I said back in June or July that Hawaii had a decent shot at a BCS game, never did I think they had a shot at the Title for that same reason. Poeple called me stupid, and look at them now, quiet very quiet. Hawaii got the shaft and there is way around it. Good job Hawaii, and congrats to Brennan.

  • yeah, good job ... you morons need to think before you post things before knowing how hawaii will do when they play a legit NCAA team like Georgia (which by the way, it's half time right now and Georgia has held super power house offense ... hee hee .... to 3 f**king points). You jackasses amaze me.
