Vikings Now:
I've gotten a lot of emails asking me about Antoine Winfield.
What I know is this: Winfield has a sprained right foot, and the Vikings are expected to work out several cornerbacks today.
It appears, though, they are all younger players, which may be an encouraging sign. DeAndre Wright was a sixth-round pick this year, so he's not in a position to necessarily help the Vikings right away. The better option, of course, would be third-round pick Asher Allen, not a player off the proverbial street.
Instead, Wright and the other players who will work out are competing for a practice squad spot.
Why is that significant?
Because with Winfield's status unclear for Sunday, the Vikings may need another body for practice and may just want to check out a few young players, at a key position.
Stay tuned.
