It May Be Fantasy But Its Serious

Fantasy football is big in our clubhouse. I'm actually in two leagues - one with some buddies in Newport and one with the team - so I'll be busy with that. Everyone is glued to the TV right now watching New Orleans-Indy. I've got a big marquee matchup in week one against our bullpen catcher Steve Soliz. He's won the league last two years and I won the year before that. He has Marvin Harrison who caught a touchdown already so he's talking some serious noise.

I like my team. I actually had the seventh pick in both my leagues and ended up with Shaun Alexander in both. I have McGahee as one of my running backs so I'm hoping he can do some things now that he's in Baltimore. We had our team draft when we arrived in Seattle, the night before we started that series. We rented a conference room brought in all the drinks, beers and sodas and order a bunch of pizzas. We had one of the rookies running the board, writing all the picks. We set it up like an NFL war room with everyone sitting around a big table. Shields and Soliz are the most serious but there's some pretty good trash talking.

Now that the NFL season has started our clubhouse will be pretty busy with fantasy football.

I'm glad to hear athletes enjoying fantasy sports like the rest of us. I say that because everytime you hear fantasy baseball brought up to a baseball player they act like it's Dungeons and Dragons for stalkers. Although, I bet that's kind of creepy having people own you and tell you about it.... I don't know. I'd like to read your thoughts on fantasy BASEBALL and some stories revolving around fantasy baseball fan encounters.

Speaking of fantasy, this is the home stretch for baseball so if you have any complete game shutouts left in you, this would be the time to cash them in.

I respect you on the baseball diamond, but I don't respect an Alexander-McGahee backfield.

or... your team could be preparing for the beatdown the Indians are about to deliver...

Nice to hear that you'll be pulling for McGahee to do well!

That's a interesting piece showing your sports side Lack! Good luck, two leagues seems to be the norm nowadays. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to draft you in either of my fantasy baseball leagues. Are you in any of them too?

I'm banking on McGahee to have a big year too...I have him along side Rudi Johnson. Let football season begin!!!

Best of Luck down the Strech and in the postseason. I hope you guys are able to upend the Yanks or Red Sox and we can have a West Coast team in the World Series.

How do you let the bullpen catcher win the league two years in a row? Is that some sort of karma thing?

Very cool. With NBC running fantasy sports ads and having fantasy football based skits at halftime, I'm not surprised you play.

Not a big fan of Alexander. I think he is the one who should be getting the overworked treatment that all the fantasy experts are tossing Larry Johnson's way, but, once the expert community settles on an outlook, they herd the same way any other closed group of people would.

Come over to www.faketeams.com if you find the time.

Why is it that you guys seem to own the yankees? Please don't face them in the playoffs.

The Halos don't SEEM to own the Yanks â€" they DO.

Hey John, thank you for Game 7 in 2002! See you in hanging around Newport Beach in the off-season.

hey John, i've noticed that when you drive out of angel stadium you sometimes play the song 'promiscous girl' full blast. why that song?

I am serious about my Fantasy team too...LOL...Good Luck with that and the rest of season!!

Whoa there! After seeing you go out to defend big Vlad, I would not cross you! It's too bad you're pitching on Sunday--after the team clinches. Go get home field advantage!

campillo was backtracking like a girl after he threw at vlad. i lol'd.

HAHA. Dude, you gonna let Scioscia talk 'bout you like that? On the post game for tonights Seattle game they played your interview about being in the Gatorade commercial and having a Yardbarker. Scioscia said he didn't know you knew how to put sentences together. Or how to operate a computer. Thought it was funny as hell.

Which rookie did you have running the board?

John, I will be praying for you and the Angels, that you have the best game you have ever had this season. It's time. Time to bring the AL West home to Anaheim tomorrow. Time to shut down the Mariners and send them home for the season. Time to show the entire baseball world who is the best team in baseball. It's time for all that and may you throw your best game of this year tomorrow!
