Jason Taylor is available and he's a good deal

Now that the Dolphins have signed Jake Long, they are looking to pick up some extra picks and the way they are doing it is by trying to trade the only guy they have who is worth something to another team: Jason Taylor. According to Clark Judge of CBSSportsline.com, the Dolphins are asking for a mid-to-low first-round draft pick. Any team in the first round should jump at the chance to get Taylor, he's one of the best linemen in the game and he's a great locker room guy. Few draft-picks are going to help any team right now as much as Taylor would.

i have a fins fan on my page, he thought that he might possibly retire.....interesting cowboy!!!

I would take Jason Taylor if I was the Eagles.... 1st round pick straight up along with a 5th. Or Lito and a 4th.

a 1st round pick for a guy who probably won't play more than 3 years until he retires. 3 years is even being optimistic...guess you'd want to ruin our future.

thats madness. Taylor isn't worth the skirt he dances in. I would give the dolphins darren howard and a 5th rounder for him. but i wouldn't even consider a first round pick for a dude that is 33

i'm obviously exagerating a little, but you get the point.

Word is Miami will settle for a 2nd rounder (+1 other low rounder depending how far down the 2nd the pick is). I'd certainly be happy enough to get a 2nd for him.

I wouldn't be happy to give up our 2nd round pick him thats for sure

ferkid thats the craziest thing Ive ever heard......ever.

you must be new to YB then lol

hhaha, ur right I got carried away lol

Heck yes.... if we get taylor our Defensive ends would be so set and we will have SACK CITY in our Defense that will be so awesome if i were philly get him the more the marrier and we wont have to worry on stocking up on DEFENSE for the draft and focus on Offense this Draft he can be the best pick so far....

you do realize that Taylors only had 3 10+ sack seasons, his highest being 11 in his 13 year career right? 2004-2006 he was great, but hes 33. If we get a DE the draft is where we're getting him.

that's not true. he lead the league one year with like 18 and a half and he's topped ten more than thrice. what about the int, tds, the fumbles forced and recovered, the qb pressure- He was Defensive player of the year two seasons ago. Are you talking about THE Jason Taylor?

haha you're right...my computer had all the stat columns shifted over one...i was reading the Pass Deflection line

that being said he still isn't worth our 1st or 2nd round picks

Jason Taylor has had 6 seasons with 11+ sacks (2000 = 14.5, 2002 = 18.5, 2003 = 13, 2005 = 12, 2006 = 13.5, 2007 = 11). I got done typing this and then saw that you already addressed it but still good info so I will post it.

If he was a WR, Eagles fans would be all over him but because he's a guy who can help the D-Line not interested.

nah i think i would take taylor instead of a wide out... defense wins chamiponships and i cant imagine cole and talyor rushing at the same time.... besides if we get tayolr we can select a wide out in the draft that can return kicks

good points, Taylor is a veteran leader who wants to win and is the exact type of player reams like the Colts, Patriots, Eagles like. I see alot of upside with him and I always prefer a known quantity like Taylor better than a draft pick who most likely will be a bust.

How can a 33 year old have upside? Upside means you've yet to reach your potential or are going to get even better...the only person at that age who has "upside" is a presidential candidate.

True, hard to spend a lot of money an draft picks on a guy who might only last 2-3 years at the most, but he is a good player if you want an instant impact for your defense.

THANK YOU!!!!!!

"upside" has already been reached, at 33 years old, theres not much more "upside" to look forward too. With that being said, he's a great player, just too old to compensate a 1st OR 2nd

Now that's funny, and true!

has everyone forgotten that the eagles have picked up chris clemons? and that we spent a lot of money on him? jason taylor may have something left in the tank, but at this point he isn't worth a #1 pick by any stretch of the imagination.

LETS GO FLYERS!

You do realize that Taylor does play linebacker too right? Listen it is a dumb decision for the future, but Philly fans want a championship soooo bad that maybe we need to do something silly like this...

and when it doesnt work, we're F'd....you don't make a move like that unless its close to a sure thing and he is nowhere near close a sure thing to get us to Tampa.

what??? Linebacker.

So philly is going to bring a 33yr old who has played DE his whole career and teach him to play LB ina completely new system?

maybe he will pick it up in two years. then he will be of real value at 35

I am under the impression that ferkid20 is confused and thinks that Chris Clemons is a linebacker. Wouldn't be the first time he states something that makes no sense.

get him E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!!

Not for a first rounder. Use your head. 3rd or 4th round pick MAX, but this will not happen either.

what do u guys think about a 3rd/4th rounder and howard

thats more realistic, but I dont see the Phins taking a fourth. SOMEBODY will give up more than that out of desperation, and if that team were to be the Eagles, I'd be very upset. A 3rd at MOST.

They have been saying the Jaguars are interested in Taylor but I don't see anyway the Dolphins will get a 1st for him. He can help out right away but most teams draft for the future and considering that Taylor is 34 years old he won't be involved in that.

I think he goes to the Pats or the Colts, he makes their D-Line and LB better.
Taylor's upside is that you know what you get, with a pick he might be good or he might not, even a 1st rounder.

I think the Eagles pull off a draft trade for Jason Taylor for Lito Sheppard and 3rd

hkeller must stand for hellen keller cuz you blind!

1st round pick for Taylor? I agree absolute madness haha.....c'mon guys think before you type. Especially, aside from his age and how long he's got left, you already know the Dolphins want and need to get rid of him. 4th round pick at the highest. And Lito Sheppard and a 3rd? Are you kidding way way way to much. Come on guys pay attention to the NFL and how and for what players get traded for these days! Your all much better then this!

Why do the Dolphins "want and need to get rid of him"...? They'd like to boost their draft position and JT is about the only player they could use to do so but can you really see Parcells, Ireland and Sparano sat in a bar getting loaded on Jack because they'd have to start the season with JT on the roster???

Browns for a 4th and 5th

So what you Eagles fans are saying is that he is old and you wouldn't mind if he went somewhere like Dallas, Washington, or maybe even the Giants.

so what you are saying is that we should trade away picks and barganing chips for a player that has limited time left in this league, just so another team doesn't get them?

If the Dolphins take a 2nd for him, is Taylor better than what the Eagles have been getting in the 2nd?
2007:Kevin Kolb or Victor Abiamiri
2006:Winston Justice
2005:Reggie Brown
2004:no 2nd
2003:L.J. Smith
2002:Michael Lewis or Sheldon Brown
The best option for the Eagles or any other team is to do it on draft day, then you know if Taylor is better than the guys available when you pick.

I would love to see us get taylor but the focus has to stay on the wrs..

as a tradition dolphin players seem to migrate to NE, but in this case JT likes the warm weather! boo. I would shine his ballet slippers if he came up north.

NE would be a great fit for him, I just don't think Parcells trades him to a division rival, esp the Pats. The Jags and the Redskins are a couple of the rumored landing spots for JT.

Jags would be a force with him on the squad.

Regardless for as stacked as we are and will be for defense they will ease the load for our offense and probably score for us on occassions an more often basis

He'd be a nice fit for a team on the cusp of a Super Bowl run because a)he's a big-time player who could help in the short-term and b)most likely if you're in that position you have a late draft pick anyway. Maybe a Green Bay. Maybe a Tampa Bay 2nd rounder. It wouldn't be Yardbarker if the Eagles weren't mentioned.

lol... I would give a second pick up for easy for taylor

I know i wouldnt mind having Jason Taylor.... And i dont want to take away from him how good he is... i know im contradicting myself lol but i think DE we are pretty good not saying we cant add more depth but clemons will be great and t. cole

I agree we are good but you can always get better...

I certainly wouldn't mind Jason Taylor going to the somewhere else in the NFC East if one of the other teams are stupid enough to give up their 1st round pick for him.

I'm a fins fan. Altough I would hate to see him go, it would make sense to trade him for draft pick(s). I see him going to a contender like Jacksonville who would consider giving a first rounder for him since they're going to be playoff contnenders. It makes sense
