Jerod Mayo is leaving on a jet plane, which is good news for Patriots. We didn't know when he would be back again.

Setting John Denver lyrics aside, as the Patriots prepare for the Broncos of Denver, Jerod Mayo would instantly help out the sideline-to-sideline defense against the rushing attack of Knowshon Moreno. Correll Buckhalter won't play in the game, but the shifty star from Georgia will present his own problems.

Mayo, who reportedly sprained his MCL during the opener versus Buffalo, packed a knee brace along with his travel necessities on Friday. The Patriots upgraded his status to questionable, giving him a 50/50 chance of suiting up this Sunday.

50/50 would be music to the ears of Pats RB Fred Taylor, who may miss the rest of the season after ankle surgery. Adalius Thomas, Vince Wilfork, and Wes Welker also missed some practice time, but each is expected to play.
