According to SI's Peter King, the Jets plan to pursue Pittsburgh Steelers 31-year-old guard Alan Faneca. According to the same report, the Jets do not currently plan to go after Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel, as had widely been rumored and assumed.
Last week, JetsCentral relayed a report from the Miami Herald in which it was reported that Bill Parcells had advised the Jets' brain trust to sign Faneca last year, meaning you can pretty much mark it down that the new Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the Fish will be competing with Team Tangini for the veteran lineman's services.
