EMQB:
Five days ago, I questioned whether the Washington Redskins would keep head coach Jim Zorn through the end of this 2009 season. After all, the Skins are in the basement of the NFC East at 2-4 and they just stripped coach Zorn of his offensive play calling duties, replacing him with incoming Sherman Lewis. The handwriting was on the wall for coach Zorn’s departure.
Well, apparently not because on his own radio show (Inside the Red Zone) today, Redskins executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato made it public knowledge that coach Zorn will, in fact, remain as the head [...]Post from: Every Morning Quarterback

Thomas nudges Kelly from starting flanker spot
Wide receiver Devin Thomas has moved ahead of Malcolm Kelly on the depth chart and is the Redskins' new starting flanker, Coach Jim Zorn said. "Right now that is a permanent move," Zorn said. "I wasn't getting enough out of Malcolm as I felt like we needed to. He knows where he's headed as far as his needs to improve. He's got a great attitude, [but...
Locker Room is Skins’ Last Refuge
The buzz around the Washington Redskins is just plain ugly. Frankly, it’s a bit out of control. I’ve thought back over several decades of Redskins’ negative headline-grabbing events: Jurgensen benched for Kilmer, John Riggins quits football prematurely, Jay Schroeder hurts his neck by bashing his head into the end zone wall at Giants’ [...]
Chris Samuels Is Retiring (Update: Or Not)
The awful news that we’d heard rumors about this week is apparently coming true: Chris Samuels will retire. More from Jason Reid:
Samuels has decided to retire because of a severe neck injury he suffered about two weeks ago, league sources said. Samuels, who earlier this week traveled to California to consult with a [...]
Zorn: 'I don't necessarily have a reaction'
Coach Jim Zorn played down the announcement today he would retain his position for the remainder of the season. "I don't necessarily have a reaction to that because I am the head coach," Zorn said after practice at Redskins Park. On ESPN 980's "Inside The Red Zone With Vinny Cerrato," Cerrato, Washington's executive vice president of football operations...

Saturday, October 22: Notes From Practice, With Levi Jones
Just a few notes from a short, windy Saturday practice.
Clinton Portis was back at practice, but Albert Haynesworth and DeAngelo Hall were not. Hall was resting a sore knee but is expected to play Monday night; Haynesworth is still nursing an ankle and may be a gametime decision. Cornelius Griffin, Chris Horton, Kareem Moore, and Hunter Smith were also all back at practice...
Is Jones the answer at LT?
Is Levi Jones the answer for the Washington Redskins troubled left tackle spot?
He certainly wants to be.
“It’s a golden opportunity,” Jones said. “Hopefully, I can be a part of the turnaround and get this thing going.”
It appears certain the Chris Samuels will miss the rest of the season and there are reports that he has [...]
Friday, October 23: Vinny Cerrato Endorses Jim Zorn
After a week of rumors, counter-rumors, statements from what seemed like every ex-Redskin still in the area (and one ex-Seahawk), and a metric ton of drama, it seemed like nearly everyone assumed head coach Jim Zorn's tenure was as good as over. So naturally, executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato started his Inside The Red Zone radio show this week with ...
Redskins affirm Zorn will stay as coach
Using his radio show as a platform, the top member of the Washington Redskins' front office on Friday attempted to end speculation about the job security of coach Jim Zorn by announcing that Zorn will remain with the team for the rest of the season. Vinny Cerrato, the Redskins' executive vice president of football operations, and club owner Dan Snyder on Sunday night stripped Zorn...
An Old Pair of Levi's
Injuries and dissatisfactionSo the Redskins big move to address the deteriorating offensive line was to sign former Cincinnati Bengals left tackle Levi Jones, Levi was cut in May of this year and took the cap hit. Levi is a former first round pick and a seven year veteran, he was selected number ten overall in the 2002 draft and took the starting left tackle spot immediately for...
Can Someone Please Get Me a Fullback That Can Block
If I were tailback Clinton Portis I would be pissed too. Fullback Mike Sellers has ****** up some pretty important plays so far this season, and then for Mike to be a dick about it and blame the media? Mike, you have either fallen off the cliff skills wise or are feeling fat after getting paid or are not paying attention to what you are doing.Whatever the problem it is costing the...
