Look, it can’t be easy to be Kellen Clemens. The guy was passed over once again after a training camp competition. Regardless of how you feel about his talent, that kind of stuff sucks. But Clemens is happy for the man who beat him out, Mark Sanchez, and if anything should happen to Sanchize, Kellen is keeping himself good and ready.
“I’m a play away,” he said. “Heaven forbid [Sanchez] goes down and I have to go in, but I know that Schottenheimer isn’t going to back off the playbook, and I wouldn’t want him to.”
Clemens would never wish an injury on Sanchez and is fully committed to doing whatever it takes to make sure the rookie is prepared for every game. That includes suppressing the frustration he felt at not getting the job in training camp.
