Apparently Lito Sheppard might be lining up at wide receiver next season. That's right, according to Brian Seltzer of 950 ESPN, instead of trying to trade Sheppard for a receiver they might simply convert him into one for certain packages next season. As odd as it sounds, apparently Sheppard has been wanting to play receiver ever since he started playing for the Eagles, so this could be part of an effort to keep him happy. While Lito has never played receiver in the NFL, he apparently experimented with it when he was at Florida. This news definitely comes at a shock. The Eagles must not feel like they aren't being offered enough from other teams for Lito so they want to appease him so he will stick around. How much of a threat he could really be is unknown, but I haven't seen anything in his game that indicates he would make a good wideout, although he seems to have decent hands.

  • he does have good hands, maybe he can come in on screens
  • he is also good once he has the ball in open space, who knows?!
  • I dont know about this, he cant stay healthy on defense when he's giving out punishment, how is he gonna stay healthy on offense, even in limited packages?
  • first of all he wouldnt play full time. he would rotate w/ the cb's and get to play where hes wanted to a long time. he stays happy for a season, we have a play maker who can confuse the defesne, and if he going to get hurt anyweay like u ignorant ppl who dontr know anything about injuries predict, then y not put him at wr so he can produce on both sides of the ball before he gets hurt
  • well, we have all seen what he can do when he gets the ball. 2 TDs of ints, atleast thats as many as i've seen. this maybe something of an idea right here, and if it keeps him happy...not sure if it will keep him healthy though. and it would tire him and make him less of a threat in the backfield.
Whatever.. i highly doubt this, but it would be one helluva sight to see. i've heard they'll try it as soon as OTAs next week. i'll be watchin for that.
    E-A-G-L-E-S EALGES!
  • thats just in 1 year
  • well if it will keep Lito happy, and he does good, the i'm all for it. Our backfield will be a little less crowded if Lito plays some offense.
  • me and you finally agree!! see the good thing about this is that lito can come in here and there on offense and still be on the roster for defense also!
  • please hes 5'10 and he never played receiver in the nfl....its not a number 1 receiver at all and it will only help in some situations...we could do the same thing with lorenzo booker
  • I tend to agree with BirdsFan. He seems to short to really be a valuable asset at WR
  • very fast, great agility, great hands, great w/ run after the catch. who cares if hes short. we arent getting a big #1 guy anyway so do u suggest anything better? hell be a lot better than hester will at wr
  • doesnt matter how short....for w.e the eagles would use him (Screens, reverses, w.e), thats y they drafted De-Jackson.
  • Doesn't that make Lito redundant then? If they already have Jackson and Booker, not to mention Westbrook, who can do these things, what will Lito bring to the table?
  • I don't know about this, but Lito is dangerous with the ball in his hands. It would be a lot of speed for a defense to deal with, with him, Curtis, Jackson, and Westbrook on the field at the same time. I don't know, after 8 & 8, I'm open for anything.
  • lito has great hands and can make a play after the catch.....i guess its worth a try. the trueth is before they signed sammuel they should have had a trade in place to move lito. as all of us eagles fans know all you have to do is mention more money and the dueling pawn brokers banner and lurie will see to it you are out of here no matter how good you are.
  • I'm all for mixin' it up, but I much rather see him make returns. But then his health would be jeopardized. Ah, guess they need to keep him happy.
  • Interesting move, but one that doesn't excite me at all.
  • Sounds like a fun story to get fans through a slow period.
  • Lets just hope that is all it is...
  • Hey if they can do it with Pac Man down there, why cant we try it. He is as fast or faster than Pac Man
  • I think it's a perfect way to keep him happy. If Sheldon or Asante goes down with an injury you'll still have a content Lito to play corner. If he just plays offense here and there, when he does step on the field the defense would have to pay attention to him. Making him a nice decoy or a real threat. I love the idea.
  • Like everyone else, I'm a little suspect about the move. But if it makes him happy and gives us a boost as another offensive threat. Why not? If it works out, it will definitely put defenses on their heels as they won't know who to concentrate on. He will definitely throw a RED FLAG when he's on the field. Great use as a possible decoy.
  • i say, instead of experimenting and all this $hit... just spend some money and bring in quality players at needed positions.. the prime players are getting old and dont have much time to experiment. ah, it will suck if we wont win a championship w. the prime players we have right now!!!
  • To Be Honest if this is all True And Lito Does Stay Healthy i dont think it would be a bad Idea.... Yea in one point it dont make sense cuz they got like what 11 current WR on the Roster.... All of Which are no taller than 6'4 smallest being 5'10..... So with that it wouldnt make alot of Sense An as we are Acoustomed to seeing We Will More than likely See the Same Line up just that They will Switch up players to be Blockers Or WR In this Case the RB's doing both WR and Blocking...
Curtis Brown Avant Jackson and Baskett Seem to be the roster by the beginning of the Season i seriouslty dont know of anyone else we may Keep as a WR also we Got Greg lewis so we may keep him but who is to say jamal jones or bam childress end up staying if Greg lewis leaves than for sure Jackson will take his spot because Avant an Baskett will be back ups to Curtis and Reggie Brown respectively.... So i dont know if we were to keep another WR or Use Lito for Package Plays he could be a great Slot WR along with Jackson he is Stronger than Most of our WR so i think he can do good plus he is a CB originally so he shouldnt have a problem crossing the CBs an Defenders...

So i can See it as a plus... If thats the Case to occupy him more an it allows us to keep a player more because he will rotate....

So figure if this was to happen it will go like this...

    Curtis---Baskett
    Brown---Avant
DJax---- Sheppard an or Lewis or Childress or Jones
  • sheppard would still be a DB on the roster so the amount of WR we have doesn't matter
  • But all in all it would be a flight risk because what if he does the WR bid... as well as CB an gets injured oh sure we have several decent CBs but he is asante primary backup so if Asante gets hurt or Sheldon gets hurt n lito is hurt than we will have Problems in the Secondary due to the Injuries God forbid it occurs an we dont need that The WR will be fine but the Secondary will not.... or not be as effective as they should....

I Would love to keep lito an hopefully keep him happy but we havent offered him nothing an between now an August is not that far away anything can happen by June 1st an so far.....

If we get a Desired WR Even Better... anything can happen Would anybody think or believe the Ravens are going after Freddie Mitchell he hasnt played since 04 the NFL anything can an will happen
  • If they are this desperate at WR then it needs to be addressed in another manner. Give up a first rounder next yr and bring in a top caliber guy. Lito is a CB not a WR, it will not work.
  • NOt true! Troy Brown was WR but played nickel or something on defense and had quite a few INTs. It is entirely possible!
  • agreed, Troy Brown, Deion Sanders, Devin Hester, Champ Bailey. the list goes on. although Troy was the only WR to go CB...
  • it wont work they should trade both first round picks and a player that we dont need or whatever deal package for a WR... Seriously because With this article this is showing that the eagles organization is Desperate for a play maker..... I still think they have something in the Works for a WR to come in for us.... Who i dont know... But if we had money for Randy Moss than We have Money for any other WR out there that can help us.... im not trying to start any WR rumor talks but lets be serious if it came down to using lito as a WR than that seriously shows that we are desperate
  • I really hope he doesn't line up he is small... and will get laid out... He is a top db if we don't trade him that is where he should stay...If Lito stays we should just stay in Nickle

  • it worked well when the Pats did this with troy brown.
  • this just proves that our wide recievers suck. why would some one ever go to a wide reciever when they are a shut down corner.. thats stupid..sheldon brown does not even compare to lito! this whole team is stupid tade mcnabb so he can get a ring somewhere else... he reminds me of dan marino... if andy does this he needs to get ran over.. mcnabb i feel your pain u give all u can give and u get no help u never had any good reciever except owens sorry man i hope u had your fun... u too dawkins! ill miss u... haha this team is going to suck when mcnabb is gone... mark my words..
  • I really like the idea of putting Lito out there at WR for a few plays a game. He could work well in the slot in certain packages. Plus, it keeps him happy as well. Hope he makes some plays for us, both offense and defense!
  • lets hope he can take a hit
  • isnt this a joke
    his is ridicuouls
  • we should just move him to right CB and be happy with that!!!!
  • then what about sheldon? he would be just as mad.
  • How weird it is, maybe it's just a rumor.

Eagles' burning question: Defense ready to soar again?

"The Eagles have improved their roster and gotten healthy enough on defense to turn the NFC East standings upside down. With a little help from the offense, worst to first isn't as big of a jump as you might think." Click it for a full read! http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=417866

Demps Ready To Show His Skills And Earn Roster Spot

Now we all know that we're worried abou the day weapon X hang's em up. He's been a fixture in the Eagles secondary for a little over a decade. Who will be the future when Dawk retires? Last year Gaddis didnt work out, Considine gets ran over, Paschal didnt play much, Mikell is pretty damn good, and we have JR. But Demps is ready to earn playing time as a rookie, whether its special...

Meet Eagle LB Joe Mays

I've been watching some tape on this guy, and he reminds me a lot of New Orleans great MLB Sam Mills (I'm sure the #51 Mays wears is giving me flashbacks). But this kid looks solid and is built like a Pitt Bull. Here are some quotes from this article: http://www.championshipsubdivisionnews.com/?title=ndsu-linebacker-selected-in-the-nfl-draf&more=1&c=1&...

Eagles Training Camp Countdown

Two words define this year's objective: Super Bowl. The Eagles are gearing up for another championship run, their first legitimate one since 2004 and maybe the final one of quarterback Donovan McNabb's Philadelphia career. Cool article by Geoff Mosher, I think he's riight on the money with this analysis.

For Eagles rookie defensive end Bryan Smith, size doesn't matter

Some girls may disagree with him...but nonetheless he could be fun to watch!

Eagles sign rookie S Demps

The ballhawk from El Paso is the first drated rookie to sign with the Birds. He has 17 ints in his college career, but the question remains on his hitting abilities. Nontheless, this is some proof of the FO's confidence in this kid. The next superstar S from Philly? Time will tell... Bark it up! E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!

Eagles fans what do you think?

On ESPN they mentioned Lito being a WR, so do you want him there or not.
