Bolt Beat:
Veteran ILB Matt Wilhelm has been released from the San Diego Chargers, according to online reports.
Wilhelm played in S.D. for six seasons. He lost the starting gig to Tim Dobbins last year.
Shawne Merriman and Shaun Phillips are still the force in the linebacker corps, obviously. This isn’t huge news, but it’s only a few days before camp is slated to begin. The roster cut comes as a bit of a surprise.
Speaking of training camp, the rookies report on 7/27, veterans 7/31 at Chargers park in San Diego. If you attend any of the practices, drop us a line!

They did Matt a favor by releasing him so he can find another team. Classy move on A.J. Smith's part. The writing was on the wall when Kevin Burnett was signed.
