Michael Vick: Express yourself about this issue!

(note: I ask that you take an opportunity to express yourself in the most respectful way possible. We are all entitled to our own opinions but be careful to express yourself without the use of profanity. English is more expressive, with a much larger vocabulary than almost any other language. The person who has to use profanity to express an idea or feeling, is showing his lack of fluency. )

I must admit that I care about animals and do not agree with the cruelty that Vick has participated in. However, that is not what has disturbed me, but the fact that he MAY have lied about having anything to do with this manner! But one must keep in mind that just because you plead guilty doesn't mean that you are necessarily guilty but it does mean that your lawyer has done his research and feels that it is the best way to settle the issue at hand. I really feel that he pleaded guilty because they really gave him no other option! Vick, in my opinion is the greatest quarterback in the league ! I support him tremendously and so does most of his fans especially those in the African American Community! Keep in mind that Michael Vick made the falcons what they are because who was concerned about the Falcons until Michael Vick? I am going to go out an limb and say that while the NFL does not Condon this dog fighting there are other players doing similar things that the NFL should concentrate on because if you are going to prove a point... do it with every player that has violated any issues similar to this! I say that the judge should let him off and the NFL should suspend him for a few games and call it a day! Now we know that because there is a need to "prove a point" that there is a great possibility that he might do some jail time and that his NFL Career will suffer. I am a just praying that God will grant him favor and that he will have every good and perfect gift that his heart desires. I said all that to say this " Yes I would want Vick on my team even today" If I had an opportunity to tell Vick anything today, I would say " Don't worry Vick for we all make mistakes and do things that we are not necessarily proud of; however God will have mercy on whom he chooses to have mercy for He is a just God! Take this scripture with you Romans 8:31 "And what then shall we say to these things; if God be for us, who can be against us" remember Vick that there is a blessing in every lesson. SO hold your head up high, stick out your chest and put your shoulders back for you are still in my opinion the Greatest QB in the league. I love you and am keeping you and your family in my prayers"

Why is he a role model for African-Americans? Why not a better athlete and a person who's never been in trouble like Marvin Harrison or LT or Donovan McNabb?, or all the other african-americans who play sports?

I never said that he was a role model for African-Americans! Although, the position he is in forces him to be a role model to all who will accept him (not limited to African Americans)! People look up to other individuals in sports. HOwever, we must keep in mind that we are all only human and all have fallen short of the Glory of God! What I did say was that MOST of the African American community still supports him just as whites, Hispanics, Asians ets! I will not shrink from undertaking what seems noble and wise because of the obstacles that confront me; therefore I leave you with this, Michael Vick is still a great man! I say this because "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy" Dr. King!

God will have mercy on Michael Vick, but the district attorney will not.

LOL you may indeed be right, but what is meant to be will be and I'II expect all the best right here and now! Keep in mind that The only thing constant in the world is change that is why we take life as it comes. A wise woman once told me " For every choice you make there are consequences you must suffer for both the good and bad! Remember that there is a blessing in every lesson!! Thanks for your comment Mr. Benjamin!

great opportunity for Vick. He will be among peers, and Federal Jail will be an amazing opportunity for the young, aspiring gangster.

You are entitled to your own opinion but you much be respectful! You probably have never known real gangsters and please believe you don't want to! Now the opportunity might be good for him to sit and think about his actions but don't be negative! I Hate Foolishness with a purple passion!

I'm trying to spin this in the positive. And if a gangster is not someone to know, I think Vick is filling those shoes decently. He's scary, I would not want to be left in a windowless locked room with that man.

Vick will eventually overcome this and I think he will still have a career in the NFL. Hopefully this teaches him about who his friends truelly are, and the responsibilities he has in being a well known athlete.

I agree Valencia and I am sure he is thinking about this now! But sometimes we have to go through the fire inorder to come out as pure Gold. Thanks for the comment!

It always pisses me off when athletes that i want to like do retarded shit. 1. It always leads to the inevitable discussion with my brother of how he would buy an island with naked women on it if had their money. 2. Because i always think " Damn, with all that money, the best thing you could do was smoke weed in your car, sniff cocaine, rape that skank, or in this case fight some fuckin dogs?" and 3. I wind up feeling sick to my stomach, because I wonder if society is being bias (one way or the other) because the person happens to be an athlete/celebrity. The Black people are like "man, theyre just sweating him because he's black" The White people are like, "Throw the book at him! I know he's black, and no, i'm not prejudice" The weird part is that some or none of it can be true, or some or all of it can be true. It a no win. I just want to know the truth.

It is upsetting when individuals do things such as this! The thing is that you can always say what you would do if you where them, but you don't know until you are in that situation. It is hard to tell if society is being bias but I sometimes feel as if they are. We all want to know the truth but in do time, it will be revealed!!! Thanks for your comment!

He lied because he never thought it would reach this level.

And obviously, everything you hear in the media is true - he pled guilty to it, and you know the feds had MUCH MORE on him than what the press knew about it.

You are awesome dude... Two comments! I see this issue is something that you are really passionate about! I have been envolved with a lot of cases and I know how the "system works"... even if you are not guilty you will plead if they don't give you another option! Now don't take this personal but my "unborn son" knows that everything you hear in the media is not true! Do a little research on mass communication and I promise what you find will change your attitude. I must say that I appreciate your comments! YOu are invited to express yourself as much as you would like!

Vick was so clueless about how serious the charges were that he had to be told by Gene Upshaw and Roger Goodell to hire an attorney. I don't know about anyone else, but if I hear the feds are searching some property of mine, I find a lawyer, even if he's the one from the Simpsons.

Here are Vick's comments about the property in Virginia:
"I'm never there. I'm never at the house. I left the house with my family members and my cousin. They just haven't been doing the right thing. The issue will get resolved."
So he lied about going there and tried to blams the whole situation on his family, no wonder people were willing to turn on him, they were just responding in kind to what Vick had already done to them.

I know what he said Cowboy Joe and It can be a true statement. I have a house that i am never at because my life is dedicated to Christ, my family, Medicine, my sorority and my community! It is possible to never be at your own home. I am never at mine until the past two days because I have been a bedrest and I am saying to myself that I need to take my keys from those I let hold keys because I would rather my house stay in order!!! While I support VIck, I am never naive to the truth! It is also possible that he knew what was going on and just didn't think that the charges would be that great! Whatever that case maybe...what is meant to be will be! Thank you Cowboy Joe( I just like saying that) for your comment!

Heyy Al,heyy Jesse you were front and
center on the basket ball scandal and the
Duke lacrosse team well come on where
are ya lets hear it guys.
An upstanding role model football players

Everyone will forgive Vick in less than two years and he will be back quarterbacking in the NFL by 2010. Probably with the Raiders after JeMarcus Russell turns out to be a bust.

I am sure that everyone will forgive him and maybe he will be with another team. Thanks for the comment!

I'm convinced this is a complete racial situation now, and I'm a white dude okay! Stephon said it right, people kill all sorts of animals all the time, deers, birds, etc......I love dogs more than the next person, but it is what it is. Vick will be playing again and hopefully all you guys will give him the chance. I've been down hard roads where I've made bad decisions, but had true people stick by my side. That's what life is all about, going through ups and downs, learning lessons and moving on. Show some compassion people. We are not life's judge and jury. Look at yourself in the mirror and think of all the bad things you did, would you want people calling you out for all the tish you did on tv everywhere? No! Leave it alone

I agree with you completely and I must say that I value every word that you have written. You are a great man to speak what needed to be spoke and an even greater man to have such Compassion! May God bless you!

To those whom much is given, much is expected. This started within 8 weeks of Vick signing his first contract. It was not a bad decision or a lapse in judgement, it was 6 years of deliberate actions taken by Michael Vick. He had plenty of time and opportunity to end the whole operation. He was too arrogant and believed he was above the law. He will play again, maybe not as a quarterback as there were already questions about his abilities. The question of race has become ridiculous- when someone, regardless of color, commits heinous crimes and is admitting to them, they are guilty and deserve to be punished. The fact that we are more outraged about how an athlete treats dogs verses how they treat women is what is the real tragedy here.

I do believe that race is an issue, but I also agree that no matter one's race if a crime is committed one should be punished. Your last sentence is one that we all should take into consideration because there is a real TRAGEDY! Thanks for the comment!
