For those of you who do not know what on earth is the UFL, it's the United Football League. It's a new "pro" (term used loosely) football league currently playing in 2 cities, San Francisco and Las Vegas and in 2 metropolitan areas, Central Florida and in the New York City metro area. To be honest, I don't know diddly about the UFL, save for a little I read about it in Peter King's SI MMQB column, poking around the UFL website and stumbling across a game on the Versus Network last Thursday. It was football, which was good. But it wasn't good football, which is bad. It's not like I'm starved for football right now as it is, with the NFL and NCAA in full swing. Why would I want to watch Arena League rejects playing in a Triple A league? Will the UFL be another American Football League, or the next WFL/USFL/World League/XFL/Arena League? It'd bet on the latter, though I'm surprised the league has made it to the point of actually playing televised games. Even if being tel...

Dominoes fall: The heart eating war daddy meets the Turk

Per Killer Kowalski at Mlive, DT Chuck Darby, whom was talked up endlessly by former head coach Rod Marinelli as a heart eating war daddy when signed as a free agent in 2008, joined other Michiganders in the unemployment lines today. Yes, the heart eating war daddy was waived for a 2nd time this season. Darby was signed a couple of weeks ago after not making the regular season...

Lions Lose to the Pittsburg Steelers… There’s No Such Thing As a Pretty Loss, But I Think The Lions Should Be Commended.

The Detroit Lions played their asses off and hung in there for quite a while against a team that is much better than them. They showed a toughness that we haven’t seen in quite a while and they did it minus our best receiver and arguably best player. Culpepper, well he’s just awful. For everything he [...]

Detroit vs. Green Bay: Chalk up another ‘L’ for the Lions

Look, the Detroit Lions are not going to win when they face the Green Bay Packers this Sunday at Lambeau Field. Its simply not going to happen. Detroit has not claimed victory in the state of Wisconsin since 1991. Think about that. A lot can be accomplished in 18 years but apparently winning just one [...]

Fantasy Quick-Hitters: Calvin, Moreno, Stover, Cotch and Sims-Walker’s “lady friend”

Calvin Johnson misses practice, “hobbling” on sideline. The Packers are mediocre against the pass and are likely to jump out on the Lions so Dennis Northcutt, Bryant Johnson and Brandon Pettigrew could all see a lot of work on Sunday. Northcutt is a pesky possession receiver, so he’s a sleeper in PPR leagues. Buckhalter practices, but [...]

New-Look Lions Don't Resemble Last Year's Opponent

The last time the Detroit Lions came to Lambeau Field, they were 0-15 and trying - unsuccessfully it turned out - to avoid becoming the first winless team in the history of the NFL's 16-game schedule. This Sunday they return to Green Bay with a win on the ledger already, but there's so much more that's different about the '09 Lions. It starts with the roster, which includes just...

Lions WR Calvin Johnson Likely Out This Week?
