Found June 10, 2008 on NE Patriots Draft:
There are many kinds of value: intrinsic, extrinsic, monetary, market to name a few. In the NFL, however, a player's true value is what someone else will trade you for said player. Here are the 40 players that we think have the highest trade value in the NFL. The following things had to be taken into consideration: production, age, contract, and position. For example, would you rather have Jason Taylor for a year or Jared Allen for seven? Thanks to the Sports Guy for the idea for this art...

Possible the worst list I think I have ever seen. Tomlinson 30? if it is because his age then why is manning 1.b or if it is because runningback is not valuable why is peterson 3? and where is westbrook?
    • Tomlinson is older and injured, Peterson is young and better. Westbrook I'd agree should be on there.

Eaglesman20- Westbrook is a great talent, but I think his value is magnified being in a perfect situation where he isn't asked for 25 carries a game and gets tons of passes thrown his way. This isnt a top 40 mvp list, where he would be in the top 10 -- I just don't he would be as valuable to any other team as he is to the iggles
  • Larry Fitz needs to be WAY higher. And Eli Manning at 6? What?

fresh off a super bowl title, the looks of finally becoming consistent, in the nfl yea he'd have a top 10 trade value now. only way that drops is if he shows he hasnt turned the corner like most eagles fans think.
    • Fitz's contract is huge though... not many people would want that contract on their books

I put Fitz higher than Welkah, which is high praise in my book. And Manning is a Manning, which counts for a lot in this league. He did win a Superbowl... (cant. believe. I'm. defending. Eli.)

Champ is sick. He should be much higher.

The fact that Champ is listed behind any CB is ridiculous, but Terrence Newman? C'mon. Champ is probably the greatest cornerback since Deion.

No love for Newman? Champ is still the best, but he wasn't INVINCIBLE last year, as he has been in the past - that lowers his trade value to me as it might show him aging.

Newman is OK but he doesn't come close to Champ, not even on Champ's worst day.

I won't disagree with you Dewey, but its not a MVP or best player list - for goodness sake Reggie Bush is on the list. Bailey is a better player, but I think at this point in their careers, teams might trade more for Newman

yeah, when Champ is done, he Will be the greatest

What about Maurice Jones Drew? I know he doesn't start for the Jaguars yet but he is young, productive, doesn't have a huge contract and has lots of marketability.

MJD and Reggie Bush were my last two for #40, I gave it to Bush based on marketing interests. MJD might only fit in a 2-back system as well. Gotta love him for his hit on Shawne Merriman though.
  • Albert Haynesworth?

Wasn't sure were to put him. In early mock-ups I had him as high as 15, but with the suspension and injuries troubling him I decided to take him off.

Not too much love for the O-line? I'm sorry but that in and of itself makes your list devalue to me. O-Line is what makes most of these big name playmakers the ball, whether it be on the ground or through the air. Mankins might be a beast, but there are tons of other O-linemen that deserve to be on there rather than listing people like Reggie Bush or cromartie.

Like Jason Peters, Steve Hutchinson, and Joe Thomas? 10% of the list is O-linemen GetMoney. And some of the best (Pace, Ogden, Samules, W. Jones, Flozell Adams, etc...) are just too old to get traded.
  • GetMoney05
Sorry for not clearing my point, patriotsdraft. I was not saying that there was a lack of O-Linemen, but simply suggesting they should be moved higher up through your index. If this was a sort of fantasy league, then those big named superstar recievers and backs should be listed accordingly. Your first O-Lineman joins the list at 14. Although I despise the Giants, Manning had a decent game, the Giants O linemen gave him the time by dominating the line of scrimmage. As an Eagles fan I thought Shawn Andrews should be on the list too. Let me know what you think.
    • patriotsdraft
      Placard_complete_small
Yeah, that seems like an oversight. Andrews could easily make the list. My bad.

Phillip Rivers at 12? For playing a game injured? Warrior? What has this guy accomplished? Plus you gotta think that being injured as a running back is a bit harder to play than a QB. LT could possibly go down as the greatest RB ever. I think someone has a man crush :)
  • FANSided
Sorry I misread that above. I realize you said you can't stand him, but I still don't like where he is ranked.
    • patriotsdraft
      Placard_complete_small
Not saying he is the 12th best player in the league, it would just take A TON in trade value to pry Rivers away from the Chargers.
      • FANSided
I hear you, but I still it would take more to get LT from them. Good work on the list...
  • where's drew brees? hes close to breaking dan marino's record for passing yards and he doesn't even make the list. the man still has 5-6 probowl caliber years in front of him. he singlehandedly changed the face of the saints franchise.give him some credit please.
