After hauling in Darren McFadden, you had to know that the Raiders weren't going to keep all of their veteran running backs on the roster. The consensus pick to be released by the Raiders was Lamont Jordan. The shocker is that Dominic Rhodes is the first back to be released by the Oakland Raiders. Rhodes only had one season left on his contract, so the cap hit shouldn't be too substantive.

The Raiders on the heels of the 2008 NFL draft, have signed another three free agents to come in and compete for roster spots this season. Needing more linebackers, they signed OLB, Malik Jackson from Louisville. For some reason, the Raiders still need to add more cornerbacks to the roster and signed Derrick Brown from Southern Utah. They also signed a center from Missouri, Adam Spieker.

As of 9:42pm pst, the Raiders have continued to work on their rookie class by signing three undrafted free agents. The Raiders only had five draft picks in the seven round draft and only one pick prior to the fourth round. The players signed are Chris Wagner, TE, South Dakota State; Louis Rankin, RB, Washington (I guess you can never have too many); Shane Simmons, ILB, Western Washington.

On Sunday, I questioned the Oakland Raiders selection of Tyvon Branch in the fourth round. I have since come to see that he will likely be a good pick up for special teams play where the Raiders do have needs. LDizzle came across a nugget of information and ran with it. Come to find out that Tyvon Branch's dad is one of the Raider Nation.

On Thursday, Raiders coach Lane Kiffin reiterated what he had said earlier this month: Darren McFadden wasn't needed in Oakland because the Raiders are loaded at the position.
This week, McFadden's mother, Mini Muhammad, was quoted as saying she thought the Bay Area was too big for her Little Rock, Ark., bred son -- thus she didn't want him to be drafted by the Raiders.

The Oakland Raiders continue to add to their draft by signing rookie free agents around the clock. The latest two free agents signed are different from most of the recent signings in more than one way. The first way that they're different is that they are both from the offensive side of the ball. The second way they're different is that they are both from powerhouse Div I schools.

Well sorta, after being drafted by the Raiders they part ways with Dominic Rhodes. Now that makes two former SB RB's out of jobs for now. So where will they land? After a bunch of talented kids have been drafted in the draft will we ever see Alexander and Rhodes be the featured backs on somebody's team anytime soon?

The Oakland Raiders waited until the sixth round, but they finally addressed their need at defensive end by selecting Trevor Scott from Buffalo. He likely won't be an instant contributer, but could be a solid pickup for some depth along the defensive line.

The Raiders have signed another defensive back named Derrick Brown, except this one is Darrick Brown, SS, McNeese State. Brown is a four year letterman in track and field and also in football. His brother, another defensive back from McNeese State signed with the Cardinals.
