While the Patriots were a three point favorite, it's not incredibly surprising that the Jets were able to pull off an upset at home this Sunday. The surprising part was how.

The young and inexperienced Patriot defense played well, holding Mark Sanchez and the Jets offense to 16 total points. Gary Guyton played well in place of the injured Jerod Mayo, while the secondary weathered the temporary absence of Brandon Meriweather with little to no problem.

Tom Brady's offense, however, was just that-offensive. Four delay of game penalties, along with dropped passes (Joey Galloway) and poor routes (Randy Moss) by Patriot receivers, off-set the stellar game that the Patriots running backs and offensive line played. The Jets were unable to sack Brady even once, even though they brought extra rushers seemingly every play.

Special teams were even worse, as the Jets consistently pinned the Patriots inside their own 25 on kickoffs. Leon Washington, however, exploded past the 35 at will. Three special teams penalties didn't help anything either.

Bill Belichick will have a busy week preparing the Patriots for the Atlanta Falcons (2-0), who had to like what they saw today.

Darrelle Revis wins the first battle… picks off Pats QB Tom Brady

The ever-confident Darrell Revis raised some eyebrows this week with his boasting about his plans to cover Randy Moss. I believe the exact words were, “I know how good I am.” So far, he’s backed it up. Revis is following Moss around, and he struck first. Revis picked off Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in a pass [...]

Too soon to call The Manchester Derby the match of the year

Thanks to Tom Brady, I am refusing to focus on anything NFL related. Instead I turn my attention to the other futbol and what I am already calling the match of the year between Manchester United and Manchester City. This game had it all. It seems the trash talking continues between the Jets and Pats, and now it’s Darrelle Revis taking some shots at Randy Moss for comments made after the game: Darrelle Revis took exception Monday to Randy Moss’ claim that he needed help from a safety to shut him down in the Jets’ 16-9 win over the Patriots. For Real? You Bet! Jets Stop Pats 16-9 for Early Bragging Rights

If you thought the Jets defense last week vs the Texans was a fluke – think again. The Jets defense was the key, as Rex Ryan and the “other” New York team stunned Tom Brady and the Patriots on Sunday, winning 16-9 in their home opener at the Meadowlands in front of a loud and rowdy [...]

A pressure-packed ending

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - It didn’t matter that the Patriots’ offense hadn’t seemed right all day. When Tom Brady jogged onto the field with 1:48 remaining with one final chance to tie yesterday’s game against the Jets, all of New England was thinking the same thing: Get ready for overtime.

AFC East: Final Word

Sunday's showdown between the New England Patriots and New York Jets will be more electric than some playoff games. Thank you, Rex Ryan.....Tom Brady versus the Jets defense will be entertaining and educational. Beat The Shark Wrap Up and NFL Week 2 - Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down

Thumbs up to New York Jets cornerback Darelle Revis. Revis was heavily hyped this off-season by new head coach Rex Ryan, and all he has done to show for it was to silence 2 of the games superstar receivers, two fellas named Randy Moss and Andre Johnson, perhaps you've heard of them. Revis and the Jets are making believers out of NFL teams real quickly. Related posts:“...
