Pierce Pleads Guilty

Really a sickening story on Antonio Pierce. It's nowhere near as bad as the Michael Vick, but still horrific.

Any trash on the giants/cowboys/redskins, is welcome by me.

yea I didn't think you'd mind haha just wish I didn't find stuff like this to post

:(
sad truly sad

Trust me it's not just a southern black culture it's everywhere. I'm black and own a pit (whom will never have to fight) but people of all colors always try to get me to fight him.

oh and I'm not saying pierce was fightin his dogs I was just responding to DTRIK19.

good feedback kilo

ouch... nice find. PETA is gonna be on his @ss

football aside thats horrible. I have a dog and a cat and i could never mistreat them or any other animal. Some people are jsut sick.

thats really sickening. how could you do that to any animal?

Not to excuse the Vicks and Pierces of our sorry world (that is indeed SICK), but do we collectively get as "sensitive" when other HUMAN BEINGS, all around the world, get mistreated, and this on a DAILY basis? Even as actual WITNESSES, we often times don't even bat an eyelash or look the other way! What's the PETA equivalent for HUMANS???

People can voice their discontent and sometimes organize and fight back.Animals require human voices and advocates to improve their treatment and conditions. For me personally, I'd rather hang with animals.

dogs are helpless you retard, boogerking is right, sportsmountie, dont go posting this with your d@mbass pics, humans have made what dogs are today, mans best friend, we are responsiable for them and their well being.

Just looking at your avatar and reading the level of language you're using towards me, "Farley610", I reminds me that it's people like YOU (or are you that very DOG in the avatar?) that sometimes actually make me more "down" with the animals than with CAVEMEN like yourself!

Come on, Doggie, go walk your "master" Farley610, he/it needs the fresh air. And don't forget the poop-scoop, he's droppin' all over the place! :P

p.s. Nice pic of YOU, Farley! LOL

Is that you lying in the grass SportsMountie...oh nm its just another piece of crap, sorry for the confusion

WOW sportsmountie you really are a loser.

Farley, whose to say that some other humans aren't helpless as well. Some of those who are the targets in conflicts in Africa and the Middle East often have little to no defense against their attackers. Small villages are often raped and pillaged by militiant forces, who have superior weapons and numbers, but there is no one to help the villagers. They are humans and have the ability to fight, but does that mean we shouldn't be concerned with their troubles?

Workhorse, you have described the United States very accurately. What I said was in reference to Sportsmounties question regarding lack of empathy for human beings in tragic situations. My point is that this article was about animal abuse. You can find and join many worthwhile causes that do what they can to either directly aid people or encourage governments to help out.No one here is saying animals should benefit from aid at the expense of other humans. One could argue not enough is being done on both fronts as animals and humans continue to be treated, well, inhumanely.Obviously Farley Dtrik and myself are very passionate about animal well being but that does not mean our sympathies are exclusive to animals.

If we'd stop spending so many resources ensuring security for private businesses in countries we tear apart than maybe there would be enough to spend on domestic aid(like helping vets)and on TRUELY benevolent causes (like creating an independent Tibet).

I understand what both of you (BK and DTrik) are saying and where you are coming from. DTrik, I think we should take care of our own first, but we also have to have an eye on the world as a whole because of how it does and could potentially affects our own. And BK, I agree that we should be concerned with animals as well.

But I did have similar thoughts as SportsMountie when I initally saw the story on here and saw that it already had 35 comments at that time. My original thoughts were this: Why when something is about "man's best friend" (and I am a dog lover, myself) does everyone (in general, of course, b/c there r some who will care greatly and others who are apathetic to any subject)jump on the subject and it causes such a commotion, yet when we hear about others far away being treating very inhumane to say the least in several cases or even when we hear about other animals becoming endangered and some extinct in far lands, there is barely any attention given to it?

Then Farley snap reactions (I would assume from the tone) created my response.

Listen we are talking about someone with plenty of time, help, and money, not taking care of HIS dogs that HE purchased. This pisses me off because they (the dogs) have no voice or way out. When someone starts posting about people in different countires its off topic. Leave that for another blog, this blog is about his dogs and how he mistreated them. So sportrsmountie and blueworkhorse need to chill out.

If this was a world issues blog...then sure, im sure there would be tons of posts on stuff like this.

if ya cant feed a dog then dont get one

There are so many people that can't have animals but really love them and then you have assh*les like this who don't treat their dogs right. What a POS

This is incomprehensible. This man wipes his a$$ with $1300. They need to give him a punishment that will actually make him think about how cruel he is.
Send him to jail and "forget" to feed him.

u sound like my dad...............harsh bbut so true

Your Dad must be really cool. :)
Seriously, though, I don't really want them to starve the man but $1300 for a guy that makes $6m a year is a joke.

he aint that cool............more like a bitter old man LOL................i hear ya GSWgirl

I'd make him and Vick fight to the death...after being starved for a few weeks

You know Mountie, every time an animal rights issue comes up I hear the same "what about people aren't they more important" mantra from folks like you.The issue here is about an undeserving asshole mistreating his animals. It doesn't have anything to do with feeding African children, ousting the Chinese presence in Tibet, etc. Are you aware that there are many national and international organizations that deal with human crises (with varying degrees of success)? Noone is downplaying the effects of human rights abuses on all of us when we speak out against animal abuse.Dig it?

I totally dig it, Boogerking! That's precisely why I even cared to make "not to excuse the Vicks and Pierces of our sorry world (that is indeed SICK)," my OPENING statement. That "Farley" character didn't have to, well, DOG me like that (pun intented)...

It's still troubling to me that we (collectively) seem to be more up in arms about animal-cruelty-related "news" than when FELLOW HUMANS from around the WORLD are treated like, well, ANIMALS. And it's also a bigger issue when it's a "North-American" animal issue. As if OUR animals (like human lives, for that matter) are worth more than foreign animal OR human lives. Dig it... or do you need me to remind you of Dr. M.L. King's coined phrase "ALL men (and dogs, I guess!) were created EQUAL..." ???

Perhaps localized empathy is more actionable empathy.Anyway it seems we're on the same team and believe me,people are working hard to educate others about human injustices throughout the world.Check out Germany and France potentially boycotting the Olympics. We're aware of what's going on.

As an aside, do you think the U.S. should boycott the Olympics?

I think a boycott is a great idea if done in conjuction with several policies to leverage China into more equitable rights for its citizens. If EU nations collectively boycott the US could make quite a statement by following suit.Conversely if the US doesn't join a large boycott we will again be at odds with European sentiment.A stand alone US boycott would be powerful but pointless without further action.

And ruin an alliance with a country that will soon be more powerful than the US? Sorry but we can't afford to burn that bridge right now no matter what they're doing to their people. They have the fastest growing economy in the world and are not very far behind us.

We reap the benefits of what they do to their people.Maybe the vet in your picture has a job with health insurance if some greedy CEO didn't move manufacturing plants to China BECAUSE of the exploiting of labor forces there. It's all related Dtrik. It scares me to think what could happen if China acquires the same power and influence as the US.And it pisses me off that we're allowing it to happen by exporting industry and importing finished goods. It equals NO JOBS!

oh well, stuff like that won't change anytime soon, so might as well be prepared for the future based on the way things are and the way they will be for many years to come. Somewhere in the midst of that you might be able to find time to create change...though you better have some of those powerful CEO's in your corner to make that happen.

Sadly,you are right.........

Pierce is a jerk. Plain and simple.

How is this news? And how is Pierce's name being mentioned in the same paragraph as Vick? Pierce let his dogs run around and the neighbors got pissed. One got sick when he was in the middle of a playoff run to the Superbowl (and spending all his time winning ROAD games) and the neighbors used it as a way to get him to give up the dogs. Yeah, he should have taken it to the vets, but the likely scenario is the girlfriend is a lazy bum. Peirce was focused on winning the superbowl and out of town. She should have stepped up and took it to the vet!

If you're too "busy" and important to care for your dog you shouldn't have one.

It's news because it is a story featuring a scumbag who plays for N.Y. Michael Vick is mentioned as another high profile abuser of animals. If you read the article properly you will see mentioned that the level of offenses are different with Vick committing much more egregious violations. However, both are animal abusers and neither should be allowed to own one again. As with any animal owner in my neighborhood,Pierce was expected to properly house, vaccinate, feed and maintain his pets.He did none of these things.

If you can't take care of a pet...DON'T BUY ONE. I highly doubt it was his girlfriend who purchased the dogs considering they were pitbulls, which he probably needed to feel like a man. If it was such a hassle for him to take care of his dogs during such a strenuous (ha!) schedule, take them to a kennel or let a family member/friend take care of them. Its called being responsible.

you are a moron webkid30...plain and simple, in fact I think YOU should go without food for a few weeks.

My last comment didn't fully represent the way I feel. I made light of this article because I'm skeptical of articles lacking factual information. And in this case people are naturally assuming that Pierce is some sort of animal abuser. I'm an admitted skeptic towards the media so I look for the FACTS. Also, I follow the Giants very closely and know people who have hung out with Peirce. I've only heard great things about him.

Sooo, if this article is true why isn't someone standing behind the statement that the dogs were underweight or have a picture or say how much the dog weighed? You're telling me the writer (who is probably desperate to get something on ESPN.com) really couldn't get anything to back it up? Bottom line is that Peirce should have taken better care of his dogs. He is in the wrong. BUT this article could have been written about anyone who has pit bulls that got free in a nice neighborhood. Before I compare Pierce to a dog fighter/murderer, or say statements like "you should go without food for a few weeks" I'll wait for some facts to come out (and wonder why they were left out in the first place).

god knows hes got enough money to

Stupid.

what a prick he is my most hated giant

Thank god he doesn't play for us. Can anybody tell me what it is with southern black culture and their love of dog fighting and mistreating the animals? I just can't see how anybody would do that to their pet, hopefully they find good homes for those dogs.

ill take em and rename them bradley and gaither

This was an interesting discussion.I'm continually amazed that so many of us are on the same page politically.

well except for the 2 d-bags talkin about world suffering
