Ed Reed's razor-sharp wit defense last night effectively ripped Washington right out of the playoff picture. I blasted Jim Zorn at the beginning of the season, and my opinion remains unchanged after last night. Jim Zorn is terrible. Maybe your team will have better luck next year, Billy. It is always nice to crush a team's playoff hopes. Is it extra special beating neighborly Washington? Not really. There is no rivalry. Washington has beaten Baltimore exactly once, in 2000. Baltimore...

That's what I think. Shoe-in for the Hall. My buddy at the bar was trying to tell me he didn't think Ed Reed would be a first-ballot guy, though. I think he will even if he never plays another down.

Exactly, this guy puts the HAWK in Ball Hawk. By the time his career is done, he'll own a few major records for pick or pick 6's. Not to mention that ring he wears. There is no better game changing Safety in the game. If he and Ray Ray retired together, there would be a purple and black first ballot HOF ceremony.

Ed Reed has never won a ring. He joined the team after the Super Bowl.

He's a freak, there has been none better in college or the pros since he has been around. We may not see someone like him for a while.

That was not a fumble. Maybe on Wednesday I will be able to come to grips with the situation, but for right now, that was not a fumble.
    • beery_pbr
OK maybe, just maybe it was a fumble. It was ruled on the field a fumble and it was close enough that I can see why it was not overturned.

Ed Reed is truly one of the best fs ever, the guy has the longest interception in NFL history, a 108 int. td.
  • Dawks08
True, but i have two words: RAY LEWIS, actually i have two more: HINES WARD, therefore deue to Quantum physics DAWKINS STILL BETTER, lemme see DAWKS ONLY PLAYER IN HISTORY TO STRIP LT AND TAKE IT TO THE HOUSE AND THE EAGLES D ONE OF ONLY THREE UNITS TO HOLD LT UNDER 50 yds, we held him a career low 19 yards, Dawks is the man, but Reed can be the little man still love Reed but DAWKINS RUNS THIS

  • Dawks08
AND YEAH IM A STUPID EAGLES FAN, BUT I LOVE ME SOME DAWKINS, and he is the best FS ever, Reed #2

Two different players....First Dawk rules by intimidation and if you don't believe me go back and look at game film from Arizona and watch how Boldin can't catch cause he's looking for Dawk. He also has a few picks himself. Currently he's tied for all time in Philly for Pick's and if Samuels wouldn't have knocked down his record breaker on Sunday, he'd own that record. He's got 37 all time and also has a few pro bowls under his belt. Ed's a ball hawk and always seems to be where the play happens. I know he can hit, but not like Dawk. Both Ed and Dawk will be in the HOF

It's hard to say Reed isn't the best safty if you use picks as a barometer, However the safty position also requires quick picking up of the run in support of the linebackers so I think when he is playing,(which seems to be rare) Bob Sanders name should be mentioned. I always think of corner as the guys who success is measured in picks or times the ball is not thrown in their direction, and that safties are more duel purpose, they safe guard agaisnt the pass, but a good safty can pick up on the run and make a play. If there were such thing as a shut down safty I would say Bob Sanders and Brian Dawkins about 3 years ago. They hit hard, come up for the run and cover the past. That's why teams are starting to give up big bucks for their services. Polamula is a big example of this trend. Brian Dawkins is still a beast but only in run support, he has a hard time covering Tight Ends now, Ask Jason Whitten. The old B-Dawk could cover a wideout in a pinch, not any longer, but he's a warrior

He is gettting a little long in the tooth, which is why I want the EAGLES to get him the ring he (and other hard players) deserves NOW!
  • moBayYankee
Dawkins is the last player left over from the Ray Rhodes era, Rhodes may not have been that great of a coach but alot of the defensive players that where a staple of Andy Reid's run to 4 NFC Championship games were a direct result of players drafted by Rhodes who either were traded, released or retired.

Wow, you're right, he has been around a long time. I'll tell ya though he may be a bit slower these days but he is still a lot better then many out there!
  • Dawkins >>>>>>>> Reed.
Reed just gets picks off of tipped balls. Dude's just a product of the crazy defense. Dawkins > Polamalu > Reed over their careers. Right now, Polamalu > Reed > Dawkins though...age...
  • moBayYankee
Isn't that wild Spotella, the only junkyard dog that Andy has on his defense that he drafted was Quintion Mickell, he hits hard, the rest are finess and speed players. As far as how to rank the safties Phili4Life you are aware it's an opinion and my opinion is Reed, Sanders (when he plays) the Polamalu who I like alot, it's close, Dawkins would be the best of them in his prime.

It's AR's philosophy on both sides of the ball and it's what will make it hard for the next coach to correct.
