B.J. Raji and Will Blackmon won't play tonight.Raji, who sprained an ankle in the preseason finale on Sept. 3, returned to practice on Thursday. Blackmon (quad bruise) had been out for longer and only returned to practice on Friday. But the Packers apparently are playing it safe, and neither will dress tonight.Raji's absence means Johnny Jolly will back up Ryan Pickett at nose tackle in addition to starting at left end. It also means rookie Jarius Wynn is active and, along with Michael Montgomery, will back up the end spots. With Blackmon out, the most likely return men are Tramon Williams and Jordy Nelson, although DeShawn Wynn and Brett Swain also could factor in the equation. Jarrett Bush becomes the No. 4 cornerback -- they only have four active. As expected, RB Brandon Jackson is out because of his ankle injury. Also inactive for the Packers are: CB Brandon Underwood, FB Quinn Johnson, LB Brad Jones, G/C Evan Dietrich-Smith and T Breno Giacomini.CB Charles Tillman is active for C...

A Few Questions Answered

I’d mentioned that I was worried about Lovie.  And that there were about 16 questions we needed answers to this season. We got answers to a few of those questions last night. For example, I’d asked Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustrated if the Packers would be smarting from the loss of Mark Tauscher.  Lee wasn’t quite sure.  [...]

Green Bay Packers 21, Chicago Bears 15

The Packers played just good enough to win last night.  Aaron Rodgers completed 17 of 28 passes for 184 yards with 1 TD pass.  Ryan Grant pitched in with 61 yards rushing on 16 carries (3.8 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Greg Jennings caught 6 passes for 106 yards (17.7 avg) with 1 TD grab.  [...]

Lovie Smith is the Intangible

As of this moment, Caesar’s-Hilton and MGM-Mirage have the Packers as 4 1/2 point favorites over the Bears.  And Aaron Rodgers has looked nothing short of awesome this preseason.  And Brian Urlacher thinks Jay Cutler is a *****.  The names of the Bears’ corps of receivers reads like the letters were drawn out of a [...]

The 6-4 Rouse...

Rough debut for Barbre

It was quite the initiation for Green Bay right tackle Allen Barbre, perhaps the only kind the Chicago Bears would provide in prime time on a season opener - rough and tough.

Ryan Grant, Green Bay Packers Rushing Game Will Struggle for Long Gains

Let's face it, the non-aerial portion of the Packers offense needs work. And if we are being completely honest, it needs a lot of work. Most teams employ a two or three back rotation, with different skill sets per back. This leaves defenses exhausted both mentally and physically as they try to stop two to three different types of running attacks, while also watching for the passing...
