Lito
This certainly doesn't seem like new information, but ProFootballTalk.com put a post up today reminding everyone that Lito Sheppard is still likely to be traded in the near future. There is speculation that the reason the deal hasn't gone down yet is because the Eagles want more for Lito than teams are offering. Shutdown corner Deangelo Hall was traded from the Falcons to the Raiders, and the Falcons received a 2nd and 5th round draft picks. The Eagles would likely use that compensati...

I agree, but it's interesting to see what the likely compensation will be for Lito

Theres no way of knowing that...all we can guess is what others have gotten and thats not very reliable. Didn't everybody expect Asante to get a Clemens type deal or better? That didn't happen.

Hall and Sheppard are comparable players on the move in the same offseason, therefore they will likely be traded for about the same returns

Samuel and Clements were comparable free agents as well...my point still stands

Different offseasons though, so not quite

and contracts get larger from one year to the next especially with a salary cap increase...so yes, quite

Every offseason is different depending on what available players there are at what positions, so you can't compare one to the next

umm yea you can...salaries are salaries, availability only causes teams to overspend which will only hurt teams that follow. The overspending becomes "the norm." Do you follow baseball at all? Guys like Gil Meche and Adam Eaton are laughing at your posts right now, because they found out how it works.

Football and baseball are completely different. Baseball has no salary cap. Gil Meche got a big contract because the Royals needed him desperately, but it didn't set a precedent. Look at Kyle Lohse, who is comparable to Meche, and see how little he signed for this offseason. You can't compare different offseasons!

hall and sheppard are "comparible", but lito is a much better player, he is a shut down while hall is just fast, and hall comes with more baggage, i expect a wide receiver, not to give lito away

i still stick to my guns and s ay lito should stay. we arnt going to get the reciever we want for him, so theres no reason to trade him... KEEP LITO

It'd be nice to give Lito and Sheldon a pay increase and slide Shay-Bro to safety...but it'll never happen. just not Eagle's policy

    well ..you don't know that.
I am SURE they have a plan,,and it is going to start to unfold ,,this week.
and the "handwriting" is on the wall .... they gave BIG $$ to Samuel to play him.
Lito...fell out-of-favor with Reid/Eagles for whatever reason ... he is good as gone.

also ... remeber the Eagles have already said they have several offers, and are considering 3.
So ,,, the meetings are this week...we will hear soon.

      According to the draft-chart ...
Lito is worth pick #31,so anyone looking to draft a CB,will probably get him. (in a trade with a pick)

Its very likely we will see somebody overspend to get him. He's all thats available besides college players and if somebody needs a starting CB right away his "value" won't be determined by a chart. Simple supply and demand...we know the supply, just have to see what the demand will be before the draft.

The only problem with my theory is that the one team crazy enough to do that (raiders) already overspent on a CB as well as a WR...we can only hope theres another owner out there as crazy as Davis

looking at the mocks (for whatever that's worth?) the teams that are drafting a CB are:
    1. NE Pats-2. Bills-3.Cardinals-4.Cowboys-5.Packers
So ..who we dealing with ?
  • I agree with shoeman... Also I want eagles to keep lito if they can't get a #1. DTRIK19 I am just curious are you an eagles fan? and for how long? You just seem to have a lot of angry and negativity towards the eagles.

I'm realistic...I want a WR as bad as you, I also want a Bentley in my driveway. Neither are happening this year so why talk about it? And I've bled green all my life, so don't question me
  • Eagles are not that dumb, the Falcons got jack for DeAngelo, so imma keep lito. He is a two time pro bowler-two time all pro, last time i checked DeAngelo was a never an all pro. SO.....shut up about this, lito and a 3rd for quan is a good deal for both sides and dont disagree cus u kno im right

I still don't think Lito will be traded just for draft picks. I think the front office will keep Lito (being that he agreed to an extension and put himself in this situation where hes only being paid about 2 mil this year), and have the best secondary in the league. When healthy, Lito is one of the best corners in the league, and is just way too valuable to let go for a few lesser round picks. I say we keep him for another year, see how Asante fits in, and also see how Lito does (if he has a great year this year, which i think he should, his value will be even better....even though yes I still would rather keep him until his contract is up). For now at the price we are getting him at, it is just not worth trading such a high shelf talent as Lito. Let us play him through his contract being hes only costing like 2 to 3 mil a year.
