With the Eagles first preseason game in the books, I thought I would take my first stab at predicting who will make the 53 man roster this season and who could potentially be left off. This is by no means the final roster, it's just my current guess as to who will make the team. Below the roster list I have given some of my justifications of why certain players won't make the team. Feel free to agree or disagree, plus let me know if I left anyone off: Offense: QB(3): Donovan McNab...

That's the team as I see it. Did I leave anyone off? Who needs to be cut? Discuss!

Jed Collins moved up to 1st team FB, so I'm gonna have to say he gets the job. Akeem Jordan is a beast and definately beats Boima with Mays getting the last LB spot. Other than that, I have to agree.

Good call, I'll fix that, add Collins and Jordan and drop Boiman. I also forgot Bryan Smith, so I added him and just took Darren Howard off, he's gonna get cut anyway.

Actually, I'll Mays off because Boiman has too much value on special teams to cut. Mays will have to be stashed somewhere, though, cause he's too good to cut.

          I'll *take* Mays off....

They may also find a way to keep McDougle. He was impressive against the Steelers.

Who do you take off to get him? Maybe they will add a rookie to the injured list or something.

Boiman may be cut for Mays or Studabaker[how ever who splell his name]

      Placard_complete_small
That's probably the biggest competition right now, weighing Boiman's usefulness on special teams with Mays' potential
      • eagles4ever05
I know Mays looks good so far but like you said we need some help in ST's but I think we should be worried about our regular Defense players then special teams players because they are a dime a dozen
        • Enriquefed
          Placard_complete_small
Maybe they could keep only 4 CB's and keep both Boiman and Mays
  • Johnson7255
mays is gonna stay, special teams beast. lito and howard arent going anywhere, abiamiri will prolly get put on injured reserve. i could def see justice getting cut. and also the schobel wilson battle will be a good one, wilson has not stood out and neither has schobel so its who plays worse.
  • Abiamiri may be out four months so he may go to the IR making room for Howard or McDougle. I have Mike McGlynn making the team over Scott Young. I could see Scott Young getting cut after missing mini camps. JR Reed may get cut making room for Joe Mays. They will find away to keep him around. He can bust the wedge on special teams

Young was getting time with the first team in Andrew's and Thomas's absences, so I think he has a spot.
  • DMcnabb4MVP
Mcdougle is looking a lot better, he may even take abiamiri's spot if he keeps up his impressive performance.

Ok, the roster is updated again with Abiamiri on the IR and Howard placed on the roster. I still think he could easily get cut. Still can't find a good way to get Mays on there.

I think they go with 4 corners. Boiman doesn't make the team. Mays is 2nd team MLB, so he definately cracks the roster. Collins got FB because he was better on ST. Akeem Jordan is on, not only because he's a great LB, but because of special teams also. I think Mays can easily be a great ST player. So he beats boiman out for the sixth LB spot.

They're probably only going to keep 4 safeties as well. So that frees up a spot on your roster. It comes down to Considine and Reed. I am really pulling for Reed, because he's a good football player and he's fought hard. But considine wins that battle.

They definately keep six ends because they plan on using them as DT in the nickel.

I would cut Kris Wilson, Dan Klecko, and Nick Graham. Keep Mcdougle, Mays, and, either Studebaker or Hunt.

We can also get rid of G Lew.

      Keep Hunt? hahahahaha

well after that game everyones jumpin on the Hunt Mobile.

You really don't know what you're talking about, do you? They're keeping 4 DT, so Klecko stays. They can't keep 4 RB, so Hunt is gone. He sucks anyway. And Reid already put out that they're keeping 6 WR, so the very clutch G-Lew stays.

That sixth Wide out just might be Jamal Jones.
      • Enriquefed
        Placard_complete_small
Lewis will make the team over Jones, guaranteed

Yea really...he knows the system a lot better and looked pretty darn good against Pittsburgh.

Doubtful, but anything can happen. I don't understand why there is no love for G-Lew. The last time our offense worked was 2006. In that season, he caught 26 passes. 23 were for first downs. That's sustaining drives. That's points. That's more than 8 wins.
    • bleedgreen7591
Greg Lewis will show up for exactly one game every year. 2007 it was NE Patriots. 2006 it was GB Packers. Each game he caught 2 TDs. If he makes the roster, he will do the same in 2008. 2 TDs in one game where he shows up.

Ok, another change: Reed is gone and Mays is on the roster

      Placard_complete_small
Now that the Eagles don't need Reed in the return game, I think he's gone.
      • DTRIK19
        Placard_complete_small
He's better than Considine though and played great when we needed him to last year.
  • jason20536
    Placard_complete_small
Yeah. I think he's expendable. Unfortunately, unlike last year, if we cut him, we probably won't get the chance to resign him if someone gets injured.
  • jason20536
    Placard_complete_small
My G-Lew stats are wrong. It was 24 rec, for 20 first downs, and two TDs. That's pretty damn good for a fifth WR.
  • Great job with the list. Sadly, it looks like another season in hell for those of us who are Birds fans.

mays is looking real good, be a shame to cut him but we have great depth there... we will see more in upcoming games, but i been impressed... dunlap has came a ways since the video ive seen of him in rookie camp... i like seeing klecko make the team, since he is family lol... and damn did u see how quick demps is? he has to be one of the fastest safeties in the league... dude got wheels on those returns... drop consi keep mays... cant stand consi... trade him to the cowboys so i can boo him
    • Enriquefed
      Placard_complete_small
Klecko seems like a lock now that Kimo is cut and Reagor is banged up. Mays has to be on the team and they'll need Considine for depth.
  • TommyTheCat

oh yeah, keep shaheer mcbride, and drop G-Lew... one reason only... HE IS FROM CHESTER!!!! (those from philly know what i mean lol)
  • Has JR Reed stood out at camp? Does he really have a chance to be cut? He played real well down the stretch last year...
  • they are going to cut wilson and keep matt schobel. wilson has been really bad during training camp
    • hes been struggling to get the offense right. he is getting the hang of it now but is still in 4th place
  • EaglesAllDay
OmG im praying we keep Lito amn..they need 2 give him a contract!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • DTRIK19
      Placard_complete_small
He hasn't earned a new one...he should be taking notes from Westbrook. Rather its looking more and more like hes been taking notes from T.O.
  • EaglesAllDay
Tony Hunt is trash cut him!!!! cut Darren howard!!!
  • if u were updated w/ eagles camp/offseason u would see that howard is now almost a shoe in to make the team with how great hes been playing. he may even make the probowl with his pass rushing ability. he is not most likely to get cut. i would also take out graham seeing how if we did decide to keep a 5th corner it wouldnt be him, it would be either fontenott or arrington, and they will keep mcdougal because he has played great and they need a big end with abiamiri out. studebaker has played well but will most likley be on the practice squad seeing how boiman is a great vet special teamer.

changes to make: take off graham and put on mcdougal. take howard off the list of players to get cut or traded. make a practice squad section and put studebaker on it along with maybe players like mccglynn and shaheer mcbride. then, put jr. reed back in since there is an open space by taking studebaker off. my guess is they will not have a 5th corner because no one is good enough, and they will just put dempos there since he is such a great playmaker. this way he will be a reserve safety and 5th corner so they will also want to keep reed around
  • I say Jason Davis makes it over Jed Collins, J.R. Reed makes it over Sean Considine, Greg Lewis gets cut and Marscus Paschal makes it as a Special Teams player, and Mike McGlynn makes it over Scott Young.
  • no way will mcglynn make it over young

and i dont rlly see anything lewis has over jackson but actually i can see anything any wr has over jackson except hight so lewis might get cut
