Redskins Insider:
Punter Hunter Smith, who has missed the past two games with a groin injury, said he will punt at Friday's practice and determine whether he can play Monday night against Philadelpia. "We're kind of in the same place we've been for the past two weeks in that I haven't actually been able to punt yet," Smith said. "But theoretically, we're closer than we were last week and have an extra day to rest this week. So hopefully we'll be good to go." The injury, suffered in an Oct. 4 win over Tampa Bay, no longer bothers Smith when he walks. That, though, does not necessarily mean he's healthy enough to punt. "It's specific to punting, the actual pain," Smith said. "It's just one of those things you can't know if you're all the way back until you go out and kick." Smith is averaging 43.5 yards per punt with a

Locker Room is Skins’ Last Refuge
The buzz around the Washington Redskins is just plain ugly. Frankly, it’s a bit out of control. I’ve thought back over several decades of Redskins’ negative headline-grabbing events: Jurgensen benched for Kilmer, John Riggins quits football prematurely, Jay Schroeder hurts his neck by bashing his head into the end zone wall at Giants’ [...]
The Cooley Zone On E:60
In case you missed it (despite my 75,000 word interview with Rachel Nichols on the subject), here's the E:60 piece on Chris Cooley from last night. I thought it was really well done, as was the USFL 30 For 30 that followed. Good night for ESPN.The Cooley Zone On E:60 originally appeared on Redskins Blog on Wed, 21 Oct 2009 13:15:00 EST. Zorn: 'I don't necessarily have a reaction'
Coach Jim Zorn played down the announcement today he would retain his position for the remainder of the season. "I don't necessarily have a reaction to that because I am the head coach," Zorn said after practice at Redskins Park. On ESPN 980's "Inside The Red Zone With Vinny Cerrato," Cerrato, Washington's executive vice president of football operations...
Frank Herzog says Skins are "insulting"
(1996 photo by Lawrence Jackson via AP) I know you've had enough of this stuff. Can't stop just now. Sorry. You can boycott the bog for a few more days if you must. The great names are just streaming out of the past to express dismay about the Redskins, and Frank Herzog joined that train this week. Herzog hosted an hour-long town-hall discussion with John Riggins on WTOP...
Is Jones the answer at LT?
Is Levi Jones the answer for the Washington Redskins troubled left tackle spot?
He certainly wants to be.
“It’s a golden opportunity,” Jones said. “Hopefully, I can be a part of the turnaround and get this thing going.”
It appears certain the Chris Samuels will miss the rest of the season and there are reports that he has [...]
Friday, October 23: Vinny Cerrato Endorses Jim Zorn
After a week of rumors, counter-rumors, statements from what seemed like every ex-Redskin still in the area (and one ex-Seahawk), and a metric ton of drama, it seemed like nearly everyone assumed head coach Jim Zorn's tenure was as good as over. So naturally, executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato started his Inside The Red Zone radio show this week with ...
Marcus Mason says Skins are Yankees of NFL
Forever prospect Marcus Mason, cut for the third time by the Redskins, went on The Junkies Wednesday morning to discuss his former team. He was clearly unhappy to be out of a job, but while he was honest about his experience, he had lots of good things to say about the locker room. For example, he never caved from the party line that the Redskins have way too much talent to be a...
Washington Redskins : An Eye Towards The Future
There has been seemingly non-stop talk about how dire the Redskins current situation is. To be honest, I have thrown fuel on that fire as well. Sitting back and watching my team get out-coached and out-played is something that doesn't sit well with me..Read the full article on Bleacher Report...

An Old Pair of Levi's
Injuries and dissatisfactionSo the Redskins big move to address the deteriorating offensive line was to sign former Cincinnati Bengals left tackle Levi Jones, Levi was cut in May of this year and took the cap hit.
