Ravens brawl at minicamp

A bench-clearing brawl at Ravens' mini-camp shows that the days of Camp Cupcake are over. Said new coach John Harbaugh "Guys are competing, so tempers flare a little bit."

According to the article, "Nearly all 85 players in camp were involved in a squabble Saturday that began when offensive tackle Oniel Cousins and defensive tackle Amon Gordon threw punches after running back Allen Patrick was taken down hard on a burst up the middle. All the players surged toward the middle of the field, and it was nearly two minutes before peace was restored."

It's good to see some intensity after years of yawning on the sidelines under Billick, but hopefully, everyone will heed Trevor Pryce's advice.

Pryce said, "If we can get all this out of the way now, scrapping and being undisciplined and 80 men jumping in a pile together, fine. So now we've proved I'm tough, you're tough, hooray, we're all tough. Are we a good football team? What's more important, proving you're tough or proving we're a good football team? That's how I look at it."

brawls can be a good thing.

you know what's weird? the baltimore sun STILL doesn't have that story up and running....and yahoo had it within an hour of it happening.

THAT is why newspapers are going out of business.

yeah i agree clear the air so to speak

Brawling is good. Scoring a TD occasionally would be even better.

Ravens becoming OU central out there? How many does than make now? 5 players from Oklahoma? Good choices. They like to fight.

Dan Cody doesn't count. Dude's played about five minutes in three years. Other than that, we've got Chris Chester, Mark Clayton, and I had to look up the other two: Kelly Gregg and Corey Ivy. Not sure who of that bunch would be fighters. Probably Ivy and maybe Chester/Gregg. Not Clayton.

Oh, I know Gregg won't back down. Chester is a big man, too. Guess they are keeping Cody around for a reason though.

no biggie it'll help the team down the strech

true. But usually a good team gets a long a little better I would hope.

Sometimes, the skirmishes build respect and comraderie amongst players. I know it sounds a little strange, but it works that way in real life, too.

that must be a guy thing. No way would that work in the female world.

No, definitely not. I have made very good friends with people I got into fights with in the past. Doesn't have to be a knock-down, drag-out kind of thing. Just air your grievances and move on.
